3dEvo: Pre-release miscellany

I read this to mean, somewhere out there, my future awesome phone is going to get a ton of love, but right now, it's just sitting around in a nondescript location with a bunch of other phones. It's out there already, ready to go!

kinda like your significant other. In retrospect, I think about how my wife was out there all that time, not knowing that we'd be together some day.

I prolly got the wrong meaning out of the post, but I like my interpretation nonetheless :)

most wifes are not the same as a BRAND NEW phone.

brand new out of the box phone... never been touched or been "turned on".. till you did. :p

Uh huh. I see.

So - if I simply substitute any previous BFs for my wife with names like Inspector (37) or Inspector (19) --- uh - they're different how, exactly?

Very pretty to look at - will make you insane trying to figure out inner workings... real danger of huge penalties to re-stock and cancel... keeps track of all my contacts and my location history whether I want that or not...

Yeah. Not seeing it. They're the same.

i see them like docs and nurses.. when she was borned..

brand new phone.. better be pristine.

but once i break my phone in.. i let my friends play and use and borrow my phone...
That never going to happen with my wife!

So Peggle is actually really fun. I deeply recommend grabbing it before tomorrow. Great time waster until Friday, well tomorrow for some people :(

yes.. but.. why is it so damn big!!!! 74MB!

For all of the time Popcap has spent "optimizing" their games over the past two years for Android, the games they have finally decided to release over the past couple of months have been disappointing, low-quality ports.

It's a pretty high quality game so I can understand why. Plus it automatically just goes to your SD card.

I hardly consider any of the titles they've released as "high quality." There are 3D games that take up just as much, if not less space and are available on a broader spectrum of devices.

Ok so i have my $50 deposit for a pre-ordered 3D at me local store. Should i order the 3D online now and get the refund for the deposit or should i just wait till the 24th and pic it up when they open? on one hand if i order it online i may get it a day early or they run out of stock (always that chance) or just wait till the day of where i know i can get one for sure. what do yall think?

In your situation I would go to the store early. There may be a line but i'm pretty sure they will have a decent amount of them considering the amount of press it has gotten. Thats just my opinion though

I have a special (crappy) situation because I am on a Sprint Sero plan and will be looking to get Sero Premium. Everything I have gathered says I need to order over the phone. So I will probably not get it until Monday or Tuesday:mad:

If I had the option I would totaly get up early and wait at the store.

I reserved it in store. But went ahead and ordered it online this morning. It's shipped already and ill have it before 3p tomorrow

Fruit Ninja: 11.7 MB
GuerrillaBob: 23.0 MB
Nano Panda: 18.9 MB
Tank Hero: 11.6 MB
Angry Birds Rio: 15.2 MB

PvZ: 73.9 MB
Peggle: 75.1 MB

Not that it really matters to me how big apps are. My DX has 2.5GB for apps internal, so I have everything moved to the phone by default. But there is definitely a disparity of size between games made by other people and PopCap games. I wish I had a Gameloft game to compare there size to, for completion.

I ordered my 3D online and should be receiving it today. However the local store told me that the $50 gift card is non refundable. It can only be used on accessories or buying another device. Luckily for me the money was from a blackberry trade in of $42 bucks. When I got the blackberry new it was $49.99 after rebate so not much of a loss. I will use it on a case and other stuff on Friday.

I will try out the 3D and most likely will trade in my OG Evo on Friday for $150.

According to a online chat with a CSR, and an e mail to the person I spoke to at the Sprint store, they will waive the $36 activation fee online. They won't in the store. Also, if I order today, I can definitely get the $125 ported number discount. It ends tomorrow in the store, and they said there isn't any word on continuing that past then. Even for just the $36 alone, I don't see any reason Not to order online. Anything I'm missing? BTW...I am switching from AT&T. Have never been with Sprint before.

I saw in the fliers in the store that it ends 6/23/2011, but according to the website, it ends 7/23/2011. If I have to order the thing online on Friday because the store no longer endorses it on the 24th, I'd be a little irate.

Wife and I went to the local sprint store here in Dallas Texas and they were aware of the extended porting date. We preordered and set up the account ahead of time so all we would need to do was walk in and activate the phones and leave. If you think it will be a problem just print the sprint website page and bring it in, if its a corp sprint store pretty sure they will honor it.

I don't mind waiting a day or 2 to have it shipped. I would rather get it Friday, and even more, would rather deal with Sprint in person anyway. Sounds like there is no getting them to waive the activation fee in store though. I can wait a day or 2 to save $36. Seems like the store losing that money, is more important than losing the sale. The $36 could easily be made up in buying accessories, etc...so why let that stop a sale? So close to pulling the online trigger. Just waiting on my Brother to decide if he's switching too.

This is contrary to what I learned yesterday, after speaking with two different Sprint representatives. I called before ordering online because the shopping cart states that activation fee is "WAIVED", but there was a note that it would appear on your bill. Both CSRs told me that Sprint has stopped waiving activation fees and discouraged CSRs from doing so (one mentioned an internal announcement). She did say though that there is a possibility you can call afterwards and ask to have it waived.

Unfortunately, its difficult to believe what is said from Sprint (any carrier), but that cart message indicating the fee would show up on my bill is pretty clear.

I posted something from sprint that said they weren't waving activation fees anymore. So that's the policy, but no telling what you can talk them into.

I tried to get mine waived when I rebought my EVO and was told they don't waive it anymore. She said when I return my EVO and get the 3D iw ont have to pay 18 again though it's just a one time process per using your upgrade. But somehow I had a 150 credit sold back my EVO rebought an EVO at 158.99 with tax. Sprint gave me a 100 dollar one time courtesy credit for resigning and it shows I have a 135 credit now before I go and get my 150 back on my EVO. So maybe they gave me an extra 35 dollar credit to make up for the restocking fee cause me and a rep were talking about how some stores could maybe not charge you and I said no this lady told me I would h ave to pay. Either way I'm not calling Sprint to ask why I have a 135 credit instead of a 100.

Here is an online chat I had with 2 different Sprint CSR's this morning.

Jessica: If you order online today, we can save you the $36 device activation fee. We also won't charge you for shipping and handling.

Jessica: With our online prices and rebates, your overall cost may be less expensive online.
