Root 3e to 2e

What's up folks. Found out whyy can't go to recovery to get my root back even though I have s-off after a dumb ota ginger.move. I now have 3e instead of 2e recovery. How do I get back to 2e. Only thing i could some what understand is chainfire root. Read that could get me back. Sucks w/o root. Peace.

what hboot do you have? and you said you have s-off correct? i'm not sure what 3e and 2e are. what recovery do you have?

I need to ask first, is this on an Evo 4g? Chainfire is for the Galaxy S I believe. Just want to verify before we get started.
 
I don't know what recovery I have. I rooted a while back. How can I check? It is an evo 4g. Soff then it has 3e next to that ,it used to say 2e. I hope this makes sence.
 
Sorry ,all this hunting for solution has
me all over the place w/ # & letters. Not 2e or 3.
It was evt3 to evt2. I think that changed after ota ginger.
Anyways the h boot is 2.10.0001 w/ s-off.
 
I forgot to mention I allso have a blue loading bar that loads up everytime
I hboot. It never did that
 
The amon ra file should be named "PC36IMG.zip" (depending on versions, Windows may hide the .zip extension, so you could potentially add a second .zip (.zip.zip))

It should then be placed in the root of the sd card. (F:\PC36IMG.zip) (again, assuming windows)

From there, your phone should take care of that.

Just checking if you did all those steps, not trying to imply incompetence or anything.


If that doesn't work, you are at the place on the web and someone will have the solution....

9to5cynic summed it up. Download the PC36IMG file. Rename it exactly PC36IMG by removing the "_RA_2.3". Place it on the root(top level, not in a folder) of your sdcard. Reboot to hboot and let it scan. Confirm update. When its finished, don't reboot. Select recovery and see if it goes to it

with s-off you are pretty much are rooted. getting s-off is the hardest part of rooting. not sure why you think that you are not. as long as you have securities turned off (s-off) you can just install a custom recovery (amon ra) then flash a custom rom and you are good to go.

OP: can you boot yet, or are you still in the boot loop?

Sounds good but its my su permissions not not allowing access.
