Root 3G and Wifi issue

Lurker
My 3G goes out while I am at work, I notice when I go to check my email and their is no connection. I can only get it to start working again by turning my phone off and then back on. Is there any other way to get it working again?

Also, my Wifi will not stay on when I check it. Ive checked all my apps to make sure they were not disabling it and cant seem to find anything. Any recommendations?

For the wifi: Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Wifi Settings. Press the capacitive menu button on your phone. Press advanced. Wifi Sleep Policy -> Never.

This will keep your wifi from shutting off every time your screen turns off. This will actually increase your battery life (relative to having the wifi sleep every time your screen goes off it uses less power). The downside to this is that your phone will poll for wifi constantly. So If you're within wifi range, this saves you battery. If you're OUTSIDE of wifi, you need to make sure to turn your wifi off, as this setting will start COSTING you battery life, because the phone will constantly be polling for a new network, which is energy intensive. Also, wifi uses less power than 3G, so if you're at work and have office wifi, I'd recommend you leave your 3G off all day and use wifi instead.

For the 3G, do you use any sort of data toggle? Something that might have messed with those settings in the phone? You could try using quick settings or a similar app with a data toggle, and the next time your data freezes, toggle 3G off and then back on, see if that works.
