New to smartphones so please excuse the question if its idiotic.

If i press the home screen during a phone call to multitask I find that I no longer have 3g capabilities. Intended?

Thanks

Thats just how CDMA works. It doesnt do data and calls at the same time. GSM (AT&T - TMO - Pretty much the rest of the world) does data and voice at the same time.

I just read that a newer standard has been approved for CDMA that will allow voice and data at the same time. However it will be a couple of years before Verizon gets all of the channel cards swapped out and it will probably require newer phones that support it.

Here is the link to the tech info if anyone is interested: CDG : News & Events : CDG Press Releases

Verizon is switching to LTE so I doubt we will be seeing this. The rollout is supposed to start next year.

You can use wifi while on the phone though, I just tested that out. Surfing the web and such while talking on the phone works fine.
