Root 3g in detroit!!

Yeah, try and actually use the data, bet it switches back to 1x...

I've seen that icon several times, everytime I try and USE it i get 1x back. :mad:

I experience the same thing. The 3g symbol is just for lonely hearts at this point. But I sense an impending improvement in the near future.

Update: I now get the 3g signal at my home. VERY FAINT connection (like my regular coverage) so speed tests aren't really reliable. The 3g signal has been my phone 95% of the day.

I had 1 bar during most of the test.

Seems this is how it's been happening b4 getting full 3g - first very faint, then more frequent, then area not getting it yet in Detroit should be getting it very soon.
 
I think its only in detroit because soon as I get close to where I stay (eastpointe) its goes away. Its a full signal on the west near grandriver but everywhere else its kinda low but works!
 
Yeah leave it to Metro to only give us Michiganders 3g way the hell down there... same place they gave us "4g"... Guess I'll have 3g if I ever decide to go get shot at the casino, lol.
 
I work at the corner of Warren and Greenfield (westside I believe) and I have never seen 3g I have updated my prl 3 or 4 times while at work so can someone explain to me...stackboi...how you are getting 3g id love to have better data i dont even get signal in my damn store lol
 
Try running an older PRL than 3024. I can't get 3024 to connect to anything up here in Flint, but 3020-23 will all get EVDO and down in Grand Blanc they will all show a 3g icon. I haven't actually gotten 3g to work up here, but getting the icon is somethin... lol
 
Unless Im mistaken manually updating the prl may give you the 3g symbol but unless you program the prl through *228 and it updates you higher than 3019 you will not have stable 3g data speeds I was thinking maybe you guys had actually been updated to a 3g prl not that you manually updated it, thanks for clearing that up
 
If your getting spotty or faint 3g then good days are near. That's how it started for me in Atlanta, tomorrow will mark the 1 month anniversary since I've seen the 1x icon
 
I use the 3024 Prl. I had to reboot a couple of times though because my signal would fade out of no where, but now I've been getting 3g everywhere in Detroit and even where i stay at now (EastPointe) . Only thing is... my battery drain almost 3x faster than usual, but the speed from 3g is way much faster, make me feel like I'm on a expensive network lol.
