Help 3G issue

Hi guys , i got my HTC desire HD a couple of weeks ago and i am tired of wondering why my 3G slows down after some time of use . It's like it has a mind of it's own . It works when it feels like . It works fine for sometime , i am downloading apps from market with a nice and easy pace and suddenly after sometime i don't know what in the world happens , 3g downloading speed slows down and i get a download speed of around 10 kb/s which i usually got when i used to have an EDGE data plan .

Apart form it i dont get a 3G sign most of the time in the top part of the screen , have a H sign instead which i am sure is HSDPA - , which is an enhanced version of 3G .. and i believe this might as well answer the question of numerous people who worry not having a 3G sign .....

plus i have NOT experienced the same thing on any other handset of mine , i have a nokia e72 and an iPhone and have never experienced any problem of this sort on these sets ..!!

well that's pretty much the problem , looking forward for help and giving thanks in advance .!

cheerio..

Is your sim card very old? If so get a new one from the carrier you're on. This might help only when the card is a few years old, newer types of sim cards have a lot less issues. Other than this, have you tried to fiddle around with the connection settings when you open the dialer and type in *#*#4636#*#* a menu will pop up, go to phone information and scroll down. There you can change how the device connects to the web, just remember what setting is highlighted by default and then try WCDMA preferred, if that doesn't work try other ones, if you have no success you can go back to the setting it had before. Hope this helps ;)

Well my simcard is only a couple of years old nd i think that isn't really old . And regarding the settings u've mentioned , ive tried it already i turned it to 'wcdma only' but still isnt much helpfull ..
