Help 3G issues Tlus branded HTC desire HD

Hello,

I would appreciate any kind of help at this point. I live in Canada, where I bought my HTC desire HD unlocked from Telus, so that I would be able to use it with the tbaytel (thunder bay mobile service provider), but the data roaming (3G) does not seems to work.

I have confirmed already that the phone is fuctioning on the HSPA 850 Mhz frequency, and that is what I am using. The 3G seems to work fine with a Telus SIM card, which leads me to believe that even though unlocked, there are still limitations.

So I realized that my phone was still branded when I always turn it on, and Telus logo appears after the HTC logo. So I have created a gold card and attempted to debrand using HTC desire updates: RUU Bravo Froyo HTC WWE and RUU Bravo HTC Europe 1.15, but it keeps telling me that it is unable to update due to wrong version.

Could anyone help me solve this debranding issue of my phone so what I could use the 3G data roaming that I am paying for?

( I already made sure it was not an issue from Tbaytel services, I had them troubleshoot their systems several times, and I followed all the manual directions to allow data roaming)

Thank you

Have you unlocked your phone from Telus? ($50) That will allow you to connect to other networks other than Telus.

yeah I got it unlocked from Telus. Now what I am attempting is to get the APN setting from Tbaytel to enter them manually, maybe that will fix my 3G access. I will respond with the result asap or else, please feel free to leave some comments.

My guess would be that you have the settings incorrect, I unlocked a telus hd for use on rogers (and it wasn't unlocked by telus, I bought an unlock code) and once I put in Rogers apn settings, everything worked perfectly. I bet once you get those settings in you'll have no problem :)

where are you from? i am deciding on whether to unlock my phone or not. i was out of town last weekend and there was no telus network at all but rogers. and my phone was still unlocked. so i could not connect.

Does unlocking your phone to connect to other network counts as "roaming" and using other network to connect online incurs a charge?
