Help 3g or 4g truth or lies?

I'm not sure if I should post in this or the virgin forum. I have a galaxy s2 i1900m from virgin Canada. My phone is not showing 4g only 3g. According to the map there is coverage here. Are there different versions of the phone? Is there a switch to use? I'm confused. I thought when I bought it it had 4g is advertised as 4g... does it really matter?

Just got off the phone with virgin mobile and was told that there is no galaxy s2 4g phone. It only almost has 4g capabilities. MAKES NO SENSE. The virgin web site advertises it as a 4g phone but it can't do true 4G?? I"m even more confused than I was before.

The Galaxy S2, GT-i9100M does not have 4G/LTE capability so you cannot use it I'm afraid. HSDPA/3.5G is it.

There are versions of the Galaxy S2 that have 4G/LTE capability, such as, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket i727, Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD, etc:
