Help 3g signal

Im having a problem with the 3g signal that i wasn't having on my droid any one have the same prob?

3G signal problem as in you're getting really slow speeds? Or 3G signal problem as in bars/3g icon not accurate?

It's been reported in another thread here that the Incredible will show a 3G connection only when it's actually being utilized.

No its not just that. It wont connect.

I must admit, the 3g signal is fairly poor..................I am on Orange. But, if I switch the phone off and then on again, the 3g returns

The only time my phone has ever been without 3G is when I've had a wifi connection.

Here in one of the more weak VZW areas (KY), I rarely go to 1X. About the same with Droid. I notice the Inc shuts down 3G when not in use and then can go from 1X to 3G when actually using data.
