Root 3G Speeds

I have a HTC Evo V and my 3G Signal bars are terrible. Most of the time I get 1 or 2 bars and my speeds are terrible. When I do speedtest, its about .12 download. Does anyone know how I can boost my speed or strength. I assume if I can boost my strength, my speeds will improve, is this correct?? My phone is also rooted too. If theres no settings or anything to improve this, is there some kind of antenna to maybe boost this?? Im not in a 4G area either. :(
 
My 3g speeds are pathetic with all 4 bars LOL

I don't really do anything that requires much data on any Virgin Mobile phone unless I'm on Wifi or in a 4g area.
 
Is there some kind of antenna that would work to boost my 3g speeds?

Every time I've installed this app my download speeds have increased. NO FOR THE LAST TIME PEOPLE ITS NOT A PLACEBO IT WORKS.

It looks like it does work surprisingly enough. Ran 2 speed tests prior to installing and both averaged about .75Mbps on the download and .47Mbps on the upload. Installed the app, rebooted and ran 2 speed tests on that same server and both averaged 1.03Mbps on the down and .50 on the up. Will keep monitoring to see, but I like what I'm seeing so far....thanks for the suggestion.
 
I usually get around 1-1.3 down and around 0.5 up in town. My house is in a terrible signal area. This tweak appears to work really well though when it can, as this isn't the only thread I've seen people rave about this app in.
 
it's always a possibility. i used to go to college in an area that i always got maximum bars in and on peak hours would only give me 0.1 or 0.2 mbps down. sprint's 3G really isn't the hottest thing going.
 
if you're running any of the roms ex. meanrom. they usually already contain 3g tweaks. not good idea to use that app if your using a rom...because the app is adding lines to your build.prop that could already be there and will just duplicate the tweak or change the value of a tweak thats already there and the app only works if your rooted
