Help 3G stops working

My 3G connection seems to get locked up, or the phone is. The 3G indicator has a solid black down arrow. I found a thread last month about this but cant find it again.

Anyhow i turn on airplane mode, wich takes 30 seconds or so to go into then turn it off again and it work fine. This probably happens once a day now.

Any idea what i am doing to the phone that is causing this or if i have a bad phone?

Am not rooted and it just seems to happen at random times while in use.

dial *#*#INFO#*#* and check battery history. in the top drop-down select networking. See if an app is using a lot of data

didnt realizew till after i did it... will check it when it happens again.
