3G Usage

Morning all,

I'm thinking of switching to Tesco Mobile, they have a really good package, which includes 500mb of data for

Hi there, I also get 500mb (from Orange) I am a more heavy user and I have 3G on 247, I also have 3G watchdog, and I have never gone close to 500mb
:)

Thanks mate...

I didn't think i'd use anywhere near 500mb, and didn't think that the widgets would use THAT much data!!!

Now to give it a go!!!

:D

If you only use it for browsing and email then you will be fine.

I do use more than 500mb but I sync pod casts and tether my laptop to it on occasions.

O2 emailed me to say I was over my 'fair usage' limit. They wouldn't tell me what the limit was, insisting that there was no limit on my unlimited data plan, but all they would say was that I was over the limit (!)

Checking my bills, I normally use a few hundred meg. On the month in question, I'd used 6 GIG!

News readers promptly uninstalled. Don't know if these were the culprit, or some weird crashed app/widget sucking data permanently, but I'd recently installed them so they went.

I now have a 3G watchdog widget running.....(and average at 200Mb / month)

I find 100Mb a month is fine for me! Have turned on option to use wifi when at home and I don't download apps over 3g. Use a proper satnav app as well with maps on sd card.

I have a 500mb limit with Orange. I have facebook, twitter, Gmail and weather widgets all set to autosync; none of these use much data at all - unless you recieve a lot of content-rich emails of course.
Clicking on twitpics and videos of course uses extra data, but browsing full desktop versions of websites does much through quite a lot, as does stuff like Youtube of course.
I'm lucky that I can have my phone on my home WiFi whevenever I'm at home, and I know from my 3g Watchdog that I'm safely under my limit.

It's a good job I have a DAB radio at work, because if I wanted to listen to streamed radio I'd be screwed.

I would like a bigger limit, I reckon if I had a 1gig limit like the one I originally signed up to with 3 but had to cancel because of coverage issues, I'd be happy; although if I didn't have home WiFi i'd be struggling.
