Help 3G & WiMAX Tethering Speed Test Results

Thanks! I live in Milwaukee, WI and don't even see my city on a list of cities getting 4G this year, but I couldn't care less...I'm still getting the EVO. Seeing the tethering being included in that $10 made me happy as can be! I don't need a friggin hotspot! My friends can pay for their own dang internet.

To be quite honest, I've hardly used WiMAX at all in the past few days. I've just left the phone on 3G. Granted, much of my usage thus far has either been at home or commuting/moving, so it really hasn't been good times to employ it either.

On another note, I'm a Marquette alumni actually. Was there from '95-'99! I still make it up there every few months. Just had a college friend move back from the Twin Cities so I'm overdue for another Kopps run!

Now you're just making us all lazy. I feel like I already have the phone. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

You're most welcome!

I think I remember reading that if you receive a call while using 3G, the phone will somehow alert you and give you the option to answer the call, thereby severing your 3G connection. It would be nice if this were true....and even better if it resumed its prior activity after the call ended.

If that's true, then I might get really happy at Best Buy next week and kiss the Best Buy sales person. Haha.

Oh man Kopps, I think I'll go get a malt and bacon cheeseburger today! Haha thanks for the idea! Lol.

Yes. USB tethering works on Macs. Can't find the threads but was just reading about someone doing this a few days ago. :)

Great! I swear this phone is too good to be true. I just hope that I don't wake up on June 4th to find out that I was dreaming all this. Lol!

FYI- you might need to install this package (esp for Win 7) to get the USB tethering to work

No "might." HTC Sync is required.

And yes, it comes with your Evo, in a folder on the included SDCard. It's all in the manual, if you bother to read it.

So does the computer recognize the Evo as a flash drive before you install HTC Sync? I'm wondering if I could just leave HTC Sync on the SD card, and if I ever need to tether a computer that doesn't have it installed yet, I could just install it from the SD card (with the computer seeing it as a flash drive).

So it'll only work on PC? If so that sucks! Why would they ignore the very quickly growing number of ppl using Macs instead of PCs?

My Windows 7 laptop did, yes. How do you think I installed HTC Sync off of the SDCard in the first place? ;)

Bek - This is fantastic news and a very nice report! Thank you for your hard work.;)

I now know that I don't need the either the $30 hot spot option or PNAnet/some other app. And I can get rid of my crappy AT&T aircard for my laptop that only works in "optimal" 3G conditions. An all-around bonus day! Thanks.
