If 3G is disabled am i still able to recive calls and text messages?

Yes, 3g just handles your data. Voice calls and texting will still work, but for picture messages you will need to enable data.

try the following

turn on airplane mode, wait a few seconds, turn it back off
toggle mobile data off/on
go into the testing menu (*#*#4363#*#*) and switch between CDMA only and CDMA auto

if none of the above works try rebooting, if that doesn't work maybe try a battery pull, if that doesn't work it's a network issue and should come back eventually (in this event if you got 1x to come up when switching to CDMA only you may want to try that and periodically check and see if you can get 3G to come back on... slow data is better than no data)

oh wait... you were asking if... not having trouble... well i'll leave that there anyway

but yes you'll get calls/texts but no pic messages, no email notifications, etc

It's O.K. that info was very informative, if not for the OP then for someone looking thru the thread for that very piece of advice
