4.0.3 release date?

P3Droid has a 4.0.4 build, so it looks like they will be releasing 2 upgrades at least before the 4.1 upgrade. Not sure though as they could always just make 4.0.4 into 4.1. I have also heard the end of Jan. for the 4.0.3 release.

4.0.4? Wow that's a shocker I'd go with the latter and guess that they'll make it 4.1

verizon does have a competing e-wallet service-that's why it's been left out of the GN.

att, verizon, and tmobile have had a partnership with credit card companies for some time to release e-wallet software that is coming soon.

Like I've said, if people REALLY want it, as in the sense that they're planning on using it, they can get it relatively easy. Verizon just didn't incorporate with the phone like people wanted them to. They're going to make it as bare-minimum of a Google phone as they can and as much of a Verizon phone as they can, but the fact that it is the GNex makes it super easy and super simple to work around.
 
yeah the signal issue is a bit annoying, but honestly, its not that bad. When i lose signal, its a pain in the ass to get back but the other 95% of the time, it works flawlessly. Other than signal strenth, its a great phone

Don't tell this to a lot of people on these forums, they think that it's pure google and google pushes without any VZW involvement :D:D

It is a pure google phone, people are confussing how VZW is involved with other phones and updates and how it will be involved with the Nexus and updates. Other phones that need updating have to go through 3 layers of release. First Google pushes a release, then it goes to the manufacture who tweeks their overlay to work with the update (this is where most of the delays happen), after that it goes to the carrier who then approves it after making sure all the bloat remains in place. The carrier doesn't actually do anything to the update other then adding the bloat to the system files.

With a pure google phone (which the Nexus is) the middle man (manufacture having to tweek the overlay) is taken out of the equation. VZW still approves it to go out OTA, however the OTA comes directly from Google. Not to mention you can take VZW out of the equation entirely and just go to the Android developer site and download the updates directly the minute Google releases them.

I know I just wanted to explain how some are misunderstanding how the OTAs are done, just quoted you because you were the last post to talk about it. :D

4.0.3 still hasn't been released by Google yet, anyone using it in a ROM is using a leaked version. Like I said I know at least one dev who has a leaked version of 4.0.4. Once Google officialy releases it we will all know as Google will issue a press release and it will be available for download on their Android developer site.

Does yours lose ALL data (4G and/or 3G symbol disappear and you get a gray triangle) and voice? If so, I don't think that is normal. At least, it seems the last 2 Nexuses I had did this a lot but this one I have now does not. Unless it was a total coincidence that they fixed something in the towers at the exact same time I got the replacement Nexus, I think there are some phones out there with a bum radio.

Correct. This is why 'direct from Google' doesn't quite have the same impact as if it REALLY was 'direct from Google'. It may be direct from Google on to Samsung and then on to Verizon. Not quite the same.

But I must have read well over 100 posts from different people saying "This is why I want a Nexus, updates direct from Google". This is obviously not true in many many cases. I got 'yelled' at for suggesting that a while back. ;)

Sorry, that's NOT the way it was endlessly discussed here and on other forums prior to the phone's release. All that was needed was a little bit of logic to see that it didn't make sense that VZW would be involved, but there was no talking to some of the adamant 'fan boys'.

Whatever it is, let's just get this radio update rolled out.

I think the confussion comes from the fact that there are two upgrade paths with Nexus phones. There is an OTA that is pushed to phones automatically, and then there is a direct download that anyone can get direct from Google. Also as I said above the main delay that most people see in updates comes from the manufactors and not the carriers. There is really nothing that Samsung or VZW have to do to the update from Google, there is no overlay to tweek.

Now granted most people will simply wait for the OTA to be pushed to the phone for the upgrade. However everyone has the option to get the download direct from google right after it is released.

Again right now VZW isn't delaying the 4.0.3 update, it hasn't been released by Google yet.

No it is true, they just have to get approval. The difference is when you see "Verizon pushes out update for HTC Thunderbolt" and "Google updates Galaxy Nexus."

4.0.3 HAS been released by google. Talking source here.

It's the building block of many roms.
 
Whoever pushes the update, I really don't care, just push it out as quickly as possible. Android OS is taking 62% of my battery, signal is poor, and I think the phone is lagging due to the high OS usage.

I'm about to jump ship and get the Razr Maxx, it would be nice to see an expected release date for 4.0.3 so I can make a decision what I want to do.

RAZR Maxx is definitely NOT a pure Google phone ;)
