4.04 OTA arrived

I'm sure some of you may have tried this but some probably haven't. This is what worked for me to get the update to show up. I got it from Android Central but it seems like it's all over the place.

I got a stock android. Straight from Amazon and haven't flashed it or anything and this worked. Like the dude said, I had to do it twice but it worked. The most noticeable differences is that the quick switch app button is much faster and the screen changing from landscape to portrait changes so much easier now too.

I guess you could keep trying or wait till it comes to you naturally. TBH when I did that "trick" I had no idea wtf that app was (and still don't). It might be something important that I wasn't meant to FC or clear it's data. I just did it without thinking. I'd wait and hit the "check now" button once a day. God knows if I've done something to my phone, which I might of done. This might be coincidence but after I did it, I had 3 updates in google play. 2 google apps (gmail and books) and one app I downloaded. The one app updated fine but the 2 google ones had an error 'Update for "*" could not be downloaded due to an error. (941)' I restarted the phone and still the same problem. Cleared data from the play app and still won't update.

Fixed it. I went to Google Play website, searched for the programs that weren't installing and just sent them to my phone again.
