Help 4.1.1 latest available software update?

Okarin

Lurker
Yesterday I returned my S3 Mini due to it being faulty. Instead of getting a refund I decided to just get it swapped for a new S3 Mini. So, that was great, and I went home happy.

The only problem I'm having is that I'm running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and when trying to update OTA, my phone states that I have installed the latest software update - 4.1.1

I don't really know what's going on as my previous S3 Mini installed 4.1.2 straight away without any problems.

Anyway, since OTA won't work, I downloaded Kies to update to 4.1.2 that way. I realized that either the store I got my phone from neglected to supply me with a usb cable, or I have lost it. Knowing that I can't update the firmware via wireless, I still connected anyway to see that Kies states that my current firmware version and the latest firmware version are the same?

I don't know if that's because I haven't connected via usb or not. If the latter, I really am stumped as to how I am supposed to update to 4.1.2

I don't really want to gain root access to my phone or mess about with it in case I break it lol.

Extra information: Phone is o2 locked, using a giffgaff sim card.

I would really appreciated any help.

tl;dr: Can't update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 OTA, and Kies says I'm on the current firmware whilst connected via WiFi.

Edit: Just tried to update OTA there and I got a new error message: "Failed to update firmware due to network or server problem. Try later or try using PC Kies". This is the first time I've had this error message. Usually it just tells me I have installed the latest version...

Hi

With a branded phone you have to wait until the carrier has the latest branded version available OTA. Maybe there is a delay for giffgaff contracts with O2. Suggest that you ask them.
