4.2.2 Issue(s)?

I feel like the guy that just loses contact with his friends after he gets a girlfriend or something and only comes around when he needs something. I've been away from the forums for far too long. But I have a few opinion questions based on what I've noticed after the 4.2.2 update.

1. The redundancy of text messages is staggering. I'm receiving texts from people multiple times with the same text. It's gotten to the point where it's borderline unacceptable. Anyone else?

2. The rate of dropped calls and disconnects from the HSPA+/3G network is noticeably high. Over the past 13 years with T-mobile I can probably count how many dropped calls I've gotten on a hand or two. Within the past 4 day's I've dropped more calls than I have in the last 13 years. Even while the phone is sitting in wait with me staring at it, I see the connection drop inexplicably and it just cycles itself.

So at this point, what I've done. Obviously, I've restarted the phone, a few times. I have cleared the cache, and stopped and restarted some communications. What I am trying not to do is a complete wipe and re-install. I mean, I'll do it if I have to, but, I have prided myself on the fact that this is the first phone I've had in a while that I am so happy with, I didn't have screw with it to make it work, that and, I have a crap-ton of stuff on it I would rather not lose.

So, what say you? Any ideas, or suggestions? I'll poke around the forums for the rest of the week and try to pay it forward. Thanks a lot.

Factory reset time.
I was really hoping that wouldn't be the way, but after giving it a lot of thought, the problem isn't going to solve itself, not without waiting for another patch, another 4 months, or something. I suppose it would also give me a reason to root.... Begrudgingly. Thanks, I'll report back if it's still wonky after the reset. Probably tomorrow.

Well how about resetting the signal or resetting the lte option. Also try a fix permission a few times and see if u can update
Resetting the signal was the first thing I did just on the chance that it was a tower/connection thing. That did little more than confirm what I've known for a while since I've lived here and that's that my local tower, (Ontop of the 6 story building on the next block.) isn't sending out any kind of a good HSPA+ signal. I haven't screwed with the permissions yet as I wouldn't know where to begin, but I'll screw around with that now. Thanks.

Oh, it's hardly a widespread issue at all. I was just wondering if the update affected people similarly in general. With regard to my issues, it's definitely the the phone, or how the phone took the update. If after I do a FR it continues to fail, I'll just exchange it.

As for the quality of my HSPA signal that is just an ongoing fight I'm having with T-mobile. They acknowledge the fact that there's something wrong with the cell tower, but they refuse to fix it. Again, hardly a widespread issue, unique to my immediate area of Bensonhurst.

I have one. Every time I wake my phone, it will show one of two different clocks.
The original looking clock that came with the Nexus and one that looks like the ICS clock.
Literally, if i sit there, hit the power button on and off to wake and put to sleep the phone, each time it will show the different clock.
Weird.

Anyone else?

2 things, First, I haven't had time to wipe the phone, and honestly I'm understanding why it'll be a PITA when I do. This phone just happens to be quite critical to my day to day stuff, so it'll wait till the weekend when I can live on the N7.

Second in a reply that I "mis-coded I know" to mb41186:

I'm getting random freezes and the phone just turns off on it's own/QUOTE said:
I'll give you that... I had an issue with the phone restarting, but turns out that it wasn't restarting. For whatever reason, my SIM lock screen kept engaging as if the phone had been restarted whereas I would have to enter it in. I curbed that issue by turning SIM lock off. I'll put it back on after I wipe the phone. I'm not sure if you're in the same boat though. The only random reboots were few and far between and went away enough after the 4.2.1 update. I think.
