Help 4.2.2, Sense 5.1 roll out

After OTA update:

- 4.2.2

- 5.0

- 1.10.605.10

etc..

4.3 is a different animal altogether, I gather (?).

Yep, it's probably going to be the last Jellybean.

Reminds me of when my big brother took that last jelly bean from the jar on the.. oh, never mind. :D

Back on-topic.. heck of an update. Incoming phone volumes are still a bit troublesome, and the soft key back lights only work in pitch dark conditions and have no configuration tools in the menus (various apps don't have any effect on it, tried a few).

Just wondering guys, before you got the update did you get a bug fix update first? I've just got a bugfix but no 4.3 as yet.. wasn't expecting it yet tbh my carrier is usually one of the last to do them in the UK

I have an HTC ONE on ATT and I downloaded the update about 250mb. Phone went through its restart and loading and got the message saying update was complete and phone was ready to use. But when I checked, it was still 4.1...Anyone know why this could be?

4.3 has only rolled out for Sprint for the US models.

Not true according to the press -

Sorry about the bad AT&T update.

I recall long ago there was a fix for when that happened.

I'd have to look it up, it's been too long.

I think that this is it for any failed OTA, regardless of version -

Clear main cache, go into Settings, check for updates.

To clear main cache - get Elixir 2, goto Info, tap Internal Storage, clear cache.

Or, turn off fastboot in settings, power off, hold volume down and tap power continuing to hold volume down until text appears. Read the screen, clear cache, reboot.

Last night at 23.00 I got prompted to install a system update, said it was a bugfix and I remember it mentioning something about the next version of android.. I obviously installed thinking it must be there to put 4.3 on but nothing has happened since.

Just wondering has anybody else had this over the past few hours and what was the bugfix for?

There was a bugfix before the 4.2.2 update (tiny update, then the main one followed).

I'm using custom ROMs now, so I'm afraid I'm out of the loop for the official updates.

Hi all.

I read that 4.3 was out for the US HTC one on AT&T, so I decided to try and download it.

Went through the OTA update process, and got all the right messages saying that the process was complete.

I navigated to the "about" section in settings, and saw that Sense UI had indeed updated to version five.

The troubling part, is that my firmware still shows this version 4.1.2.

Has anyone else had this issue? Or does anyone know what the problem is/how to fix it? If they're going to roll out the new update, I'd like to be able to actually take advantage of it.

Also my phone is not rooted or otherwise tampered with. Just bought it in August.

Thanks, all!

Are you sure it's updated at all? The One was released with Sense 5.0, so that isn't any indication that something has updated.

It went through what looked like the update process (this is my first android device), then I got a pop-up that stated it updated successfully - if it meant something other than that, then it was a little misleading...

Should I re-try it, or do something different this time?

EDIT: Not sure it matters, but when I check for software updates again, it says it's up to date (still showing 4.1.2), & that I can check again in about 20 hours...

Thanks!

I'm assuming you're on an AT&T device. If I remember correctly, AT&T did a bug fix update that pushed a while back. It didn't update sense or change the version of Android though. It's possible you just installed that, and AT&T stages their software roll-outs, so that could be why you haven't seen an update to android 4.3 yet. The reason it says to check back in 20 hours is because AT&T doesn't like people checking more often than once a day for updates.

Thanks! So even though the update is available, I hadn't gotten the bug fix yet, so it only allowed me to get the bug fix instead of the update? Theoretically then, I should be able to install the update this evening then, right?

I had that happen on Sprint a while back, same thing exactly, so I'm going to say yes.

Cool - thanks for the input. I'll try it again tonight & report back!

Okay - I checked again, and indeed there is an update available (didn't say whether it was 4.3, but I'm assuming it is). I went ahead & selected "ok" when it gave me the option to download.

30 minutes in, & I've been stuck at 63% / 155 MB of 245.6 MB for about 15 mins with no progress. Is there any way I can restart the process to try again safely? Doesn't seem to be clearing up on it's own...

I was able to click "check for update" again in settings. That seemed to jump start it.

Just finished downloading & installing a 246 MB update, & according to settings, I'm STILL ON 4.1.2! This is starting to get frustrating. Could there be yet another update I need before 4.3 is available to me?!

I guess I'll have to wait 24 hours & check the update availability again >:(

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I have a HTC One on at&t and i've been reading all over the internet that the new version of android and sense were released for it awhile ago, yet I have not received it. When I check for updates it says my phone is up to date, but it is running android 4.1.2 and sense 5.0. Any reason for this? Anyway to manually update it? Thanks in advance.

AT&T (along with most carriers & OEMs) usually does a staged rollout when they release software update. Basically, to prevent server overload, they release the update to sets of IMEI's (each device has a unique IMEI) at a time. So really there's no telling when you'll get the update, as it just depends on when the batch of IMEI's that your phone is in gets the green light for an update.

That makes sense, I'm just wondering what update I could have downloaded & installed last night that was 246 MB, but evidently not 4.3... I guess I'll try again today... I wish there was a way to tell what the contents are - the phone just said "firmware update".

The 4.3.3 update on Sprint was over 500Mb. I suspect you just installed a bugfix.
