Does anyone know what new features will be coming out when the note 2 finally does update to 4.2.2 ?

They said a lot of the features from the S4 will come to the Note 2, so probably a bunch of those, like playing music simultaneously through your phones etc.

I'm the confused owner of a new Samsung Galaxy Note 2. My HTC EVO 4G required the use of App2SD to easily move apps that could be moved to the Micro SD card. Now I learn that Samsung inexplicably decided that users are not to do that. I can't figure out why there is a micro sd card slot in the Note 2 if you can't move apps to it...

You learned wrong. It's got nothing to do with Samsung, it was Google's decision and it was not inexplicable.
There are already several threads discussing this, a search will easily find them and you can see all the complaints and links to why Google made the choice to do so if you really want to know.
SD cards are for media storage.
