4.3 update Discussion and issues HERE !!!

But, for me the most annoying issue I am experiencing is:
  • Alarm clock won't snooze. EXTREMELY annoying.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I don't have this issue. The alarm will ring for a minute and automatically go to snooze. I have tested with vibration, melody and melody with vibration. Different snooze timings as well. It will go off and continue for a minute before automatically going into snooze.

I usually hit the power button to snooze it since it's closer by me. Never waited for it to auto snooze.

The new system is much slower than its previous, also it does not take screenshots with a swipe from the left of the screen to the right

i have a samsung galaxy note 2 gt-n7100 which was on 4.2.1 i downloaded the update "EUR-N7100XXUEMK9-20131218105221" and installed it successfully via 'mobile odin' and i am now on 4.3 BUT i have no cell/mobile network access?

i've tried flashing different kernels and modems via recovery menu but that just makes it so i can't toggle wifi on.. what is the fix and/or the right kernel/modem to be on?

please help i'm going to Amsterdam on the 2nd and don't want to take my iphone with me :(

I don't have this issue. I can swipe left to right or right to left on the screen without issues. It'll take the screen shot either way.

Hi I have just updated my note 2 to the new jelly bean 4.3. I have had nothing but problems since. I thought it had all got ok till I noticed that when I put it in sleep it keeps flashing on and off. I got in touch with samsung and they suggested to reset to factory setting. I did this and it worked for a day then started doing it all over again. So i did it again, but this time have not sighed back into any of my accounts. It seems to be stable. But I don't think it has downloaded it all. I can't see samsung wallet or any sigh of the galaxy gear, which was what I am waiting for as I can't wait to get my hands on that watch.

How do I know it has done it properly.

Please HELP.

BATTERY LIFE

Have had five or six days on 4.3 and noticed the battery life was not as good as 4.1.2.

I've noticed that even when WiFi is off, it's on. Well not on as in connected, but on as in scanning for WiFi.

The battery stats show that it is permanently on.

Seems there is an option to "scan for WiFi" even when WiFi is disabled, so it's now turned off and I'm going to see if that improves the battery life.

I noticed this when watching TV in my bedroom via video sender. The phone was still interfering with the picture even when WiFi was off!

why was my thread merged into a 'general upgrade discussion' thread? it's was a thread about support not 'general discussion' about upgrading?

When at home, right in front of my wireless router, this phone is now constantly saying "Now connected to wifi XXXX"

I get a Facebook notification or an email or something, and instead of being able to use my phone I'm now just turning to my main PC, because I'm CONSTANTLY losing my wifi connection.

It shows as connected, but 2 ft away from the router it shows only a couple of bars and then doesn't do anything. A few minutes later "Now connected to wifi XXXX"

Right now I will pay money to put my phone back as it was. How can I get it back to 4.1.1 or whatever it was?

It feels deliberate, they come out with a the Note 3 and an "update" cripples my 10 month old Note2??????

Some mod thinks it's cleaner this way. :D

I wish the misguided mod (I almost said dumbass) would quit it. No-one's getting decent support this way.

exactly!

out of the several sites i'm using this is the *ONLY* one i haven't gotten any help on as my support thread is now buried multiple pages back where no one will see it :(

oh well least there's other sites that know how to moderate correctly :D

Maybe check out XDA or the root section of the forum.

You can try to reflash the 4.3 firmware going through KIES. Under Tools>Firmware Upgrade and Initialization

Not sure what region you're in, but Samsung Wallet is not available where I am. The Samsung Galaxy Gear Manager can be downloaded from the Samsung App Store.

I have my Wi-Fi on 24/7 and if I use it lightly or not at all, the battery would be on par with 4.1.2. But when I go a little more moderate to heavy usage, it tanks and sucks the life out of the battery. :(

Even after a clean install, my Wi-Fi connection was acting wonky as well. Giving unstable connection, etc. When I rebooted my router, everything worked fine. Then the power outage hit and I had to do a complete power cycle of my network to get it running again.

Thank for the info and thanks for your clean install guide as well.

I've had no problem with connecting to WiFi, it was just the interference with my video sender that continued after I'd turned WiFi off that made me think that it could be draining the battery.

I'm in heavy use mode for the next few days so will be charging every night, but after that I "hope" to get 2 full days out of it.

We'll see!

I've found since the update that my battery life has diminished, It'll last just about the day and I barely use the phone.

Hi isteve. Did you follow andygu3 suggestion?- did it work- yes/no?
Hope it did. Let us know.

After seeing isteve's post I checked my video player and noticed the video I took of my son opening his present on Xmas Day would only play about 3 seconds and then give the "This video cannot be played" message. All older videos (filmed before updating to 4.3) played fine tho.

I cleared the cache/data from both the Video and Video Player apps and rebooted but unfortunately the video of my son on Xmas Day still won't play. I've sent it to my Mac and that will only play the audio so I suspect the file is corrupted :(

Strangely enough when I open the Video Player, the gif-style thumbnail preview of that video shows the whole thing?!

I've just tried recording a new video and playing it back and all seems fine, so hopefully it won't be a problem in the future.

Which is why I stress backups are always important. Especially if updating/upgrading... you never know what will happen. :(

Sometimes I will have multiple backups of the same file. I have little issues with previous and new videos made. They all (pre and post update videos) play with the exception that it 'chokes' sometimes (stalls and resumes).

Otherwise, no issue with any of them and they all play fine on my desktop (Win7 x64 Ultimate).

Hi,
I recently updated my Note 2 (unlocked version) to 4.3 and now the available/used storage calculation for the internal storage is wrong. If I do an analysis using Storage Analyzer it gives me the (what I think is correct) value of ~3.7GB. But if I use the system storage analyzer it says that I'm using twice that amount.

After tinkering a bit I think that the system analyzer is counting both the /storage/emulate/0 and /storage/emulate/legacy, which leads to a double count. (I think it's double-counting because when I delete a big file, say 500MB, the used storage goes down by 1GB.)

Any ideas on how to make it show the correct value?

My Google Music would randomly pause in a middle of a song or it'll randomly change in the middle.Anyone else having these issues?

Everyone has different issues since the update. It's almost as if there's a random number generator in the update, picking bugs randomly.

You'll have to wait until Samsung gets its act together (or at least gets an act). Or you can try a different music player.

I agree about back ups, but that wouldn't have helped me in this case. All my older videos (filmed before updating) work fine still. The only video I've had an issue with is the one I filmed AFTER updating.

I tried the clearing cache/data from the Video app tip and any videos I record now seem to play back ok *touches wood*

Also somebody in the thread mentioned about landscape videos filling the whole screen if the phone is held upright/portrait....I've found out how to stop this.

When watching a video, in the bottom left corner (by the rewind button) is a little white rectangle icon. Tap that once or twice until it shows a white rectangle with little arrows pointing to the top right and bottom left corners. The other options will force the video to fullscreen. :)

I have similar issue
My galaxy s3 now displays a total space of 32gb after updating to android 4.3, before it displayed only 27gb

Just as a general question... I'm in the UK and have the nagging popup prompting me to update to 4.3.

Now as I see it I have 3 options...
1) Do nothing and stay on 4.1 forever....
2) update to the official samsung rom and face whatever problems are there... are there knox/bootloader issues which would prevent me going custom in the future
or
3) skipping the Samsung thing all together and entering the custom world... in which case anyone know of a decent 4.3 rom with s-pen support?

any advice would be great.....

I have left 4.1 on my wife's Note 2 just to see if there is another update in the near future, if not then I think I will leave it, if it ain't broke and all that, but that said, I think there is a 50 - 50 chance things may be ok, is it worth the gamble? only you can decide but my wife is happy as she will not use it to its full potential anyway.
I have thought about custom roms etc but then thought about void warranties etc, being a 2 year warranty it makes the decision harder, but if thats no issue then there are lots of 4.3 roms apparently with Note 3 S pen functions also.
I'm not sure about the knox/bootloader issues.

I never experienced this. But again, I did several hard wipes during my install and tests. Which resulted in limiting the amount of issues I encountered.

Wonder if Twister and Nobby can chime in as to whether they see any real issues with the update now that they did hard wipe their Note 2s. Nobby doing a clean install as well.

If anything, I have more annoyances with this update than issues. To me, the update screwed the Note 2 in features and other annoying things (ie. kiddie icons, ugly GUI, no pop up browser, etc).

I think I read a user here encountering issues with Knox when trying to revert back to 4.1. I can't remember what it was. But it looks like Knox in 4.3 will mess with anyone trying to revert back.

I guess the best answers would be found in XDA regarding the 4.3 update and KNOX.
