4.4 Update Discussion And Issues HERE !!!

A little late now, but hhow I wish I had of check here prior to doing the kitkat update. May just be a coincidence, but my memory of my note 2, was very favorable, even though I had switched to a note 3.

I had sent my note 3 to samsung for another issue, and was again using the 2 for a day or so before the upgrade. Big Mistake. No use repeating the prior complaints here, but every day, something else annoying pops up..

Is Samsung trying to p/o their customers or what?

It's been a 1.5 months and I'm still having bluetooth range and draining battery issues after the 4.2.2 update on my Note 2. I've tried everything suggested on this forum as well as calling AT&T and Samsung. I really don't want to buy a new phone bcuz, aside from these issues, my phone works fine. Help!

I found a band-aid fix that works on the Note 2 bluetooth issues thread. Go to Settings/More networks/Tethering and wi-fi hotspot. Switch to Yes and it works...temporarily. It will switch off once the phone can't find a hotspot but it works. You also can't use wi-fi...oh well. Anyone know why this helps with bluetooth range issues?

I have a stock standard Galaxy TAB3 WiFi only. I upgraded it to 4.4.2 KitKat about 2 weeks ago. After the upgrade, the Facebook app would suddenly close without any warning or error message every time I tried to post a comment or tapped one of my FB friends. Shortly afterwards, Facebook released an update to its app, which I thought would fix this issue. But instead, it made it much worse. After the update to the FB app, it would only run for a few seconds before again it would close itself without warning. Does anybody else have this issue? What causes it? Is there a fix?

That's because Google has restricted access to the sd card in 4.4 for 3rd party apps. The only file manager I've able to use to write or delete to the sd card is the native file manager My Files. This has affected the behavior of a lot of apps. Some have been fixed. Many have not.

Has anyone figured out how to turn off the WEA severe weather alerts?

Only thing I've found so far is under settings, sound, emergency tone.

Setting it to OFF does exactly..... nothing. Thanks VZ, no way to turn off
These obnoxious alerts anymore... time to start looking at rooting...

I realize it has been a while since you posted this. Did you find the answer? If not, you actually need to look in the messaging app settings. Open Messaging, then click the menu, then settings. Toward the bottom is Emergency message settings. You can unclick everything except presidential alerts.

I had charging problem right after the kitkat upgrade updated my phone. No matter how long I charged my phone it would not get past 60 to 70 pct. Also my phone battery discharged very quickly. I Did not have this problem prior to the upgrade. I performed a cache partition wipe on my phone (in fact i did it twice) and now my phone is back charging as normal. Do a search on the instructions for performing a cache partition wipe for a NOTE 2 (not a tablet), and see if it works for you.
