It really depends on how much data you want to put on there? 16GB is fine for me, but I could probably manage with 8GB though. I only really use the space because it's there.
What you need to look at is the class of the memory card (denoted by a number in a circle on the card itself), they range from 2-10, with 2 being the slowest, 10 being the fastest. It's only worth going for Class 6 and above though.

Generally, class six and above will work faster. Your phone came with a class four. As for brand, I'd recommend going with a manufacturer that makes good memory. For example, PNY, Kingston, SanDisc, Samsung, etc. You could run a quick search for brand reviews also. I never buy anything without reading reviews on it.
