Does that seem right? My battery lasts somewhere around 3-4 hours. It charges overnight, and then I have to charge it twice a day!

I'm a somewhat heavy user, although I'm not using it solid. I get a lot of texts and emails, and I do play casual games like sudoku while waiting on things. I don't watch videos or anything, I don't even use it as a phone. Just emails, texts, periodic bursts of games, and every now and again I do a google search.

I've turned off all the settings I can find (wifi is off, brightness is dimmed, etc), but none of it has made a difference. I've even tried just leaving it plugged in to see what happened - and all it did was last an extra hour -the battery still drained out, albeit a bit more slowly.

I just bought it 2 days ago, after 3 years on a blackberry. I have to say, I like the charge so much better, but my bb would last 3-4 days without needing a charge. I haven't changed my use - just the phone. I've heard the Charge has a low battery life, but is it really that low?

This does seem wrong. First thing I'd do is call VZW customer/tech support and ask them about it, and/or bring it to the store you got it (assuming it's a store staffed by folks who know anything) and ask them for advice ... or possibly ask them to exchange the phone, or to at least replace the battery.

You should be getting a lot more than that, especially if you're turning off WiFi, GPS etc ...

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. My assumption was that seemed off, but I've heard so often that it has a low battery life, I wasn't sure what that meant since I'm coming from an old blackberry. It seemed crazy to need an extended battery just to get through a day.

The guy we bought it from at best buy seemed to know what he was doing, so I'll just bring it in tomorrow to get it looked at.

Keep in mind the Droid Charge comes with a more powerful battery than most other Android phones -- not say an extended battery wouldn't be even more powerful, but Droid Charge battery is 1600mAh . . .

You definitely should be getting more useful hours (many more useful hours) than what you're getting with your new Droid Charge -- definitely go back to Best Buy (and possible also call VZW, don't just talk to "level 1 customer service" but ask to get to a "level 2 tech support" person (they're the ones who actually have the technical expertise).

I bought my phone on 5/18/11 and yes at first the battery was horrible. Everyday it got better, not sure why but it did. I went ahead and ordered the extended battery and couldn't be happier. While, yes it does make the phone thicker, however it is so much easier to hold on to. The phone for me is all most to thin ( seriously ). Verizon is currently only charging $29.99 for the extended battery, however the cover is not included w/ that as it has been when I have bought previous extended batteries for phones in the past. The cover was like $8.00 and shipping is free on all accesories on verizon.com. Plus I don't have that liitle guy on my shoulder anymore saying "don't use your phone b/c your battery will run down". Sorry to get off subject, but to answer your question my regular battery got better everyday. So give it a week or so and see what happens. Hope this helps

Usually it takes more than three cycles of full drain/recharge to get most out of new battery. Also try to adjust sync interval of your communication apps to avoid too frequent syncing. Keep WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS off when not in use.
I tried other techniques too, but these are most important things to do. If it still doesn't improve for more than week, then battery or phone must be defective and should be replaced.

And to think that I was about to pay $49.99 the other day for the extended battery. Glad I waited. $29.99 is an awesome price for the extended battery :) Sucks that it doesnt come with the cover, but $8 isnt bad. $40 total with tax and all. WOOT

Really depends on how you use your phone....in all honesty, if you have a few power hungry apps downloaded, and your running with full time 4G, dont expect a full 12 hr day. I'm a really heavy user and I have to charge the phone sometimes in the early evening pretty often. So much really depends on your usage pattern when really talking about battery life.

I have Beautiful widgets running, with Go SMS, and the Gingerbread keyboard with full time 4G with GPS and WiFi turned off and I can usually can go from 11am till roughly 6pm with pretty heavy use, moderate use about 8pm! So that's anywhere from 6 to 9 hrs on the regular. That's pretty much the story with most data heavy users...these stories of 20 to 24 hours straight on one charge are something neither I, or anyone I know with an Android phone have ever seen with battery life.

Just about everyone I know has about the same battery life with a pretty large range of Android devices...the exception is the Thunderbolt, battery life is horrid on there, maybe 3 to 4 hours or so with pretty heavy usage. And on the flip side of that is the Fascinate, which I would sometimes get 12 hours out of on most days...but that's a different story being its a 3G only phone...
