40mb of apps, 21mb free - sound right?

I know there are lots of posts about space for apps etc, but I'm just trying to sense check me remaining space based on the apps I have installed.

I looked at my list of downloaded apps, total came to 40mb, phone tells me i have 21mb free. I gather the phone should have about 147mb for apps, so am i missing something here, or should i have a lot more free space?

It's not just for apps. It's your settings, app settings, app data, app cache, dalvik cache, emails and other data.
 
Perfectly normal.
The desire has a horrible internal storage.
You should check how much data an app is using and try moving apps onto the sdcard if you want to improve the internal storage of the desire.
 
Thanks for the replies... all mys apps that can be moved to sd card have been, and nothing seems to be taking up a huge amount in terms of cache/data storage.

Of all apps my biggest is Maps at 9.54mb.

Have also just dropped from 22mb to 15mb for no reason the last week or so - haven't installed anything either - getting pretty frustrated, especially when I need 25mb free for updates....

Thinking about a factory reset, but dunno if that's more trouble than it's worth...
 
Is it possible with no harm done do uninstall:
Facebook,
Twitter,
Footprints etc?

I know they are all small if not used but is should add up to something.
 
Email ? Contacts ? Usually people with few apps who've run-out of memory have loads of email (and download complete messages).
 
contacts is very small - only 4mb or so. Not sure how I check the size of the email, but I looked at all cache sizes and nothing over a a mb or so.

Do you guys think my free space sounds low?

Have to be rooted to remove /system apps and /system space does not equal /data ("internal storage") space
