Help 4g and 3g

Hey this is my first thread so bear with me lol
I recently bought a Droid Bionic and was wondering if i should use 3g or 4g. I heard in some cases 4g uses more battery. But i also heard its better.. PLEASE HELP!!!

4G is faster for data then 3G, and does use more power.

However if you are not in an area that gets 4G then sock it into 3G otherwise the battery will drain faster as it searches for the 4G signal.

My suggestion would be to try a couple of days with 4g on and a couple of days with it off. Then compare battery life and choose which one is best for you.

Personally I can get through a whole day with 4g on without having to recharge so I keep 4g on all day.

Well im a senior in high school and i guess as you can imagine i like to be on twitter facebook instagram and texting when the teacher is not looking lol. so do you think i could make it with that?

Lol probably not. Jk. I don't know. With heavy use I can go from 8am-3pm, my definition of heavy use is a lot of phone calls, web browsing and media streaming. This is on a full charge and 4g on.

Well thats not bad lol and I'm not gonna be making phone calls in school haha. But it's not like I'm going to be constantly on my phone with the screen always on and stuff like that.

Ahaha this is a forum about the droid bionic not about class lol. But i will pay attention a lil better lmao. But how do you feel about battery extending apps? I know some people say they work and others say they don't

I don't use them. The best way to extend your battery life is to buy an extended battery.

I used to leave my 4g on, and with the extendedb attery by motorola... yea, I only got MAYBE 8-9 hours out of it. Since Ive turned off the 4g and ONLY have it in 3g ALL DAY, the battery lasts a good 24 hours.

It was told to me that battery drain on 4g happens because the phone is constantly searching for the other data signal, ie 3g, if it is on 4g, and is constantly searching for 4g if it is on 3g, so I turned off the LTE function and viola... only in 3g, and verizon 3g speeds are plenty fast for me. I love that function.

AND no more data drops.... if you just set it to 3g... it stays on CONSTANT all day long.

3g speeds are nowhere near fast enough for me. I'm regularly sending myself 9-10 MB sized PDFs of published articles that I find online so that I can read them at my leisure, and 3G downloading a 10 MB article takes up to several minutes. With 4G it takes several seconds.

To each his/her own. I have 2 stock and 2 extended batteries so I can swap out as needed. I'd rather have my connection than have to wait....
