4G data will be an extra $10 add-on

Well I stand corrected. That sucks as Miami doesn't have 4G yet.
Actually, I think I may need to be the one corrected... the fine print from the image/link I posted above seems like it means $69.99 plan, OR the Business Advantage (what is that?) $59.99 plan plus $10.

... so either way, $69.99?

Who knows - you can interpret it both ways????

UPDATE: After reading it over a few more times, seems like the $10 "bend over" charge is for BOTH. So, what is the difference between the $69.99 and $59.99 plan (besides price)?

I think you are correct. That makes a lot more sense than charging extra on top of the Everything Data plan.

Yeah we're trying figure this out in the the EVO thread...pretty confusing right now...have no idea what's going on lol. Seems like they just fudged numbers but came out with the same final price.

Dude, the point isn't the hotspot. Nobody really cared about the hotspot and those who really need it will probably have no problem paying for it.

The point is that the regular plans will charge you more for 4G. They didn't do that when 3G rolled out and it is unfortunate that they are doing it for 4G.

Excuse me for bitching and complaining but I just spent the past several weeks echoing Dan Hesse's statement that Wimax saves them lots of money so they will be bringing it to us at no extra charge.

Now I not only gave out bad info but I bought into it. Went from a $55 bill with more minutes than I needed, unlimited data, and a text package to a $70 bill in order to get the Pre. I figured, who cares. It's still cheaper than the competition and I get a good phone and good service.

Now only a year later they are asking me to cough up yet another $10 a month for 4G.

It's not exorbitant and I will probably suck it up and open my wallet. I am just annoyed that they would do this...if only for their business.

They need to get subscribers more than anything and their current plans with 4G gradually being added would have made them a powerhouse. The $10 addon is just a cheap move like the mail-in rebates and will lose them money in lost potential subscriptions in the long run.

yea i am particularly pissed off at this $10 add on. As Sprint/Hesse has even said 4g is cheaper...so WHY the extra $10?

I still am excited about the phone but that extra 10 is killing me...not to mention the 30 extra for hotspot...

Mood right now: Pissed

Here's what the email said. I'm going to retract my previous statement and say that the $10 is required whether or not you're in a 4G area or not.

What, did you guys really think the hotspot capability was going to be free?

Lol.....

And to the iPhone guy, that doesn't even compare man, for starters, iPhone doesn't allow tethering of any kind.... LOL.

So go get your iPhone on a crap network, and I'll enjoy the faster, better, more productive, open, EVO 4G.

IOWA: People expected the wifi tethering to be REASONABLE. Now, folks will just root or use a third party app.

Yeah, but if you compare it to DATA Cards or the OVERDRIVE, or other MiFi stuff, that is exceptionally reasonable, is it not?

I'm really not sure the evo is worth an extra $120 per year every year you have the device. Especially if you aren't in a 4g area. Leave it to sprint to screw up a good sub generating device. Fanboy our not that will cost them sales.

Why? The extra $30 is NOT required, and it's a service NO ONE ELSE OFFERS

They're getting me from Tmob and my friend from ATT. I've been with Tmob forever (since the first Treo came out) and my friend has been with ATT for the iPhone and his contract is up.

So what's your point? You don't have to pay it, so it's still a win. Me I'll pay it if I use it but I have no need for tethering.

I'll take that bet.

I think I will let the dust settle before getting upset but hopefully those not in the 4g area/don't want 4g service won't have to pay the additional fee.
