4G/E symbol on when connected via WIFI

Guys

On my T-Mobile Galaxy S2 I am seeing that when I am connected via WIFI to my home network, that the 4G/E symbol still shows up, and at times I see that the arrows pointing up and down light up every now and then. If I am connected to the WIFI, shouldn't there be no data being transferred on the over the air network? I don't want to hit my data plan with any usage if I am connected WIFI. Or, do I need to prioritize networks in some sort of setting in the phone?

I'd appreciate any feedback, guys.

Thanks

I noticed the same thing. Also, there're some apps I only set to download podcast or sync only in WIFI. When both 4G and WIFI are presence, those app won't do a thing.

You can go to Settings, Wireless Network, Mobile network, turn off Use packet data. Or you can look for any widget so you can turn that 3G (or 4G) data On and off with 1 touch.

I think the bars are for voice signal, not for data. If you have a phone without any data plan, the bars are still be there.
