Help 4G + loss of data connection

I don't know if this has been addressed before in regards to the dropping 4G problem (I see your problem has been fixed brennan77), but I was experimenting with trying to get even more battery life the other day and decided to turn off "Always on data connection" or whatever it's called. I then noticed over the next couple of days that I would lose my 4G, 3G, and 1X connection and get nothing, even when I tried to turn the connection on/off, tried to use internet, or toggled the "Always on" setting. I had to restart the phone to get my connection back. So, I just toggled it back to "Always on" and it has worked fine since. Perhaps some have experienced the same issue.

Interesting. I never did toggle the always on feature. I will say that the replacement phone has been a completely different experience. I've not lost data once. And with my extended battery, I have seen nearly 16 hours today without being plugged in. My battery is still at over 72%. I've played games, searched the net, played on facebook, read my newsgroups, downloaded from the market, etc.

It's been a great phone over the last couple of days with the exception of some oddities with car mode and my car charger.

I have been able to use the LTE On/Off application to repair this on my TB and my girlfriend's TB.

I click the "Turn off radio" from there, and then after 30 seconds "Turn on radio"

Seems to work whereas turning off "Mobile Network" didn't seem to do the trick.

Hey all - was going to start a new thread - then figured that I should post here. I'm having the same issues with losing data connection - and turning the internet on and off doesn't allways work (and is a PITA - especially with how often it's happening - and LTE ON/OFF (while I haven't tried it in the TBolt is still more work than I think I should have to go through. The question - and it's probably fairly obvious - but for the life of me - I can't figure is - How do I turn 4G completely off? I want to see if that resolves the issue. What really sucks is that i'm in what should be a solid 4G area.

TIA!

Update: Good News - I figured it out. Bad news - it didn't seem to do squat. . .

One thing I noticed with my phone, when I was having data drops, I switched to the new radio available (You have to root to do it, go look in the root section if you're curious) and I downloaded the new radios. That seemed to help with my data connections.

Figured what out, how to turn off LTE? *#*#4636#*#* for you non-forum-searching mofos...then go to "Phone" and scroll down to the bottom, click on the dropdown with LTE listed, and select CDMA Auto. And it may help to reboot.

Actually found it under the settlings - wireless & networks - mobile networks - network mode. I was trying to avoide a reboot (sucked up almost 10% of the battery) - but I did - and - it looks like it MIGHT work.

I am wondering whether you see a drop in battery life as the option mentions when using always on connection?
Thanks,
Bryan

I never got a real test as to whether or not it made any difference, since I kept restarting to get my internet back. Good news is that I haven't had any connection issues since leaving it at "always on."

Oh and PLEASE tell me that you didn't think my "mofo" comment was rude, despite what some people think.

It was in joking, you know like "this crazy mofo"? Although I must admit that I take use of the "search" feature very seriously on here... I mean the interwebz is serious biddness....

Have you compared what version of radio you're on with what's currently out there? I say that might be the best way to make sure you're up to date with your data connections.

Update...2 weeks with the new phone and no data problems....until yesterday. Now this refurb is doing the EXACT same thing. After spending a while on the phone with both HTC and Verizon tech support, they are sending me a 3rd phone. The verizon guy was just about ready to suggest me switching to another brand and model phone altogether. He even mentioned the Charge. But he suggested trying a new phone one more time.

We'll see...

So this new one seems to hold a data connection better. It's dropped it once to my knowledge since yesterday afternoon. However, this phone has shut itself off no less than 10 times. It's not rebooting. It's losing power altogether.

I seem to be experiencing similar problems, and i know it is the phone because my husband has the same phone and his works perfectly side by side with mine when it isn't. I swear that I did an Android software update on July 23rd and the problems started after that...does anyone else remember that update?

*off to search for a list of updates*
