Help 4G LTE drops down to 4G while talking

Hello,

While talking on my phone, and away from WIFI, the cell data mode drops down to 4G only from 4G LTE. This is really annoying when tethering to my laptop and also need to talk at the same time.

It is my understanding that it should not.

Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure 4G and 4G LTE are the same thing. Since 4G/LTE was never meant to carry voice call so maybe that's why it switched back to 4G and maybe 4G LTE is reserved for data only?

Voice over lte is still in its infancy. It hasn't been rolled out in many cities let alone all the carriers. Phones also likely have software locks to block the feature until it's ready or possibly don't even support the feature. Since hspa+("4G") is capable of caring voice, your phone drops to that in order to make a call.
