4g LTE Speeds

Hey guys I'm new to this Android thing and just recently got myself the LG Esteem . Overall I'm satisfied but there's a problem that's bugging me, and that's the internet speeds. I live in New York, Brooklyn to be exact and there are suppose to be really good where I'm at. I ran a speed test and my download speed is 1300ish Kb/s, upload being about 1400ish Kb/s. This is weird because I've seen people getting 6 Mb/s and up which makes me wonder what am I doing wrong? Some pages take awhile to load, and some just don't at all. Is there anyway I could possibly get the speeds to go faster? This is the only thing ruining my experience, and besides the internet speeds I absolutely adore this phone. Any advice out help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try updating the prl. You can do it by dialing *228 or manually bg using the prl 3025 sticky post that has directions

Mmkay. Also what's wrong with the speed test app, is it accurate? After finishing the update and retesting it showed about 4 mb, and now it's dropped back down to the 1ish mark again. But I still see a difference in how fast pages load up. Thanks again.

So after checking the thread you mentioned I noticed that it said the latest prl version was 3025. After updating via phone I went to settings to check my version and it says I only have version 3019, and I can't update any further through the phone it seems. I'm going to manually install once I get home and see if that fixes the problem. I'll edit this post accordingly.

The Esteem came with 3018 (Why? I dont know kinda weird to give it such an outdated one) but if you call *228 it will never give you the most recent. It will always put you at 3019. If you want to try 3020 3022 3023 3024 or 3025 you have to manually update it with QPST or CDMA work shop or wait for it to change on its own.

i'm in brooklyn with a galaxy S2 skyrocket on ATT. the last 2 weeks i can rarely get over 7 mbps download speed. i'm not on an unlimited plan, so i am not being throttled. has the network become so congested that speeds r this slow? i used to get 20 download speeds on a regular basis.

any suggestions?

just spoke w ATT rep complaining about my download speed. she said anything above 2 mpbs is LTE. i can't wait to see speeds here drop after 4g is flooded with galaxy s3 users. often when i do a speed test the "closest" tower is in new jersey.

i just dont think ATT provides enough coverage for nyc

Metropcs 4 g lte Is Notoriously slow. I ran a speed test on my metropcs And On a t mobile In the same room with the same software and got 2mb vs 8mb. T mobile of course the higher
