4G Speed?

Ok, I just am out of contract with my VZW Dinc 3G and wonder how much faster the 4G is? They advertise 10X faster but I find that hard to believe! 4G has finally made it to my little town, USA. I do alot of tethering and speed is a big issue for me. Also, If I bought a used 4G phone and had it activated with VZW will it run on 4G with my same service plan? I assume it will but thought I'd ask.

Thanks

Call your carrier to confirm if it will or not, and 10x faster? I personally don't think so.

I do lol yes 4g is way faster then 3g I dont know about Verizon but T-Mobile is the ....lol it is worth the upgrade

Data speeds are extremely subjective based on your area. Ask your friends what they have and ask to run a speed test. Whenever someone I know gets a new phone, the first thing I do is show them Speedtest.net.

In my area:
T-Mobile HSPA+ ~22mbps
Verizon LTE ~10mbps
AT&T LTE ~ 8mbps
Sprint ~worthless

There is no better alternative than real world experience. Most companies will let you try out their service for a month. No harm done. If it doesn't meet expectations, move to the next.

Verizon is king in the New Orleans metro area, and southern Louisiana for that matter, both In terms of coverage and speeds.
I average 15-25 mbs down and 7-10 up.
I have personally on more than one occasion recorded speeds in excess of 50mbs down on my razr.
Of course not the norm, but impressive nonetheless.
Once you go from 1-3 mbs 3g speeds to 10+mbs on LTE you're never going to want to look back.
