4G speeds - Will change

Metropcs for North Cali (can't vouch for other locations atm)

Will, by the end of this year be uncapped.

So if you live in the bay area (NORCAL) your 4G speeds will go from a 2mbps to 16mbps!

Metropcs has is capped in NORCAL because they're rolling over old servers with the new LTE servers.

Once all the new LTE servers are up and running the LTE 4G data speeds will be uncapped.

I know other markets like Dallas, Michegan and Detroit already have up to 16mbps going right now and have been for several months.

Soo keep an eye out by the end of Dec.

Also, all 3G Ev-do servers will be completed as well.

Cheers!

I'm in Sacramento and speeds are still capped. Under 1.5Mbps download right now using the Auburn server on Speed Test. It seems like it is getting slower by the month, probably due to an increase in LTE subscribers. Upload speeds aren't too shabby though, around 5Mbps.

And speeds are only going to get worse when Metro turns on VoLTE since the LTE bandwidth will be shared with voice.

Uhm. Not sure about that. It might give alot more room for lte to process now that they will be migrate from cdma to lte. Besides, our phones will have an excellent battery life which im happy with :). I don't remember but I saw in the VoLte article that 4G connect will be more stable and improved with their upgrade.

You obviously have no idea how LTE and VoLTE works. VoLTE is pretty much just VoIP being transmitted over LTE, i.e. it eats up bandwidth. Right now there is far less strain on the MetroPCS LTE network because it is only handling data connections and all voice traffic is offloaded to the CDMA network. Now in a few years if Metro can free up them CDMA/AWS spectrum and use that for LTE we may see faster speeds. Until they get more spectrum the speeds are only going to get slower over time. In the last 2 months my average downstream speeds on their LTE network in my area have gone from around 4Mbps down to around 1.5Mbps, and I guarantee this is due to the increase in LTE phones in my area.

I know what you mean. But in my area I doubt that'll be the case. Well, lets just see

i easily get 3.5-4.1 at my area in Orlando..but im always on my wifi...hopefuly for much higher speeds! Hopefully when they uncapped the 4g IF they do..then they can UP the 3g to atleast 1000k instead of what i get nowadays like 150k..

i live in tampa brandon fl and i get 4 to 5 mbs down and 3 to 4 up and it is been getting worse to well i sould say that is what i use to get lately its been half that

I'm in NY and if they keep advertising ''Blazing fast True 4G LTE'' I will drop this slow crap, 1mb is max i can get no matter how good signal no matter what time of day! I can get 5GB for 50$ in Verizon! or Unlimited in Sprint whose Wiimax still goes about 14mb/s average

Seriously who needs 16mbps over a cell phone? I can understand on a laptop/desktop, but wtf are you gonna do with that much speed on your phone? Torrents? Youtube and everything else already loads pretty damn quick on our current LTE speeds as it is.

MetroPCS does not need to be lying about there network 4g is 4g you advertise it so we want it wtf is all the lying about

You gotta pay more attention. They advertise their 4G connection according to AREA. They even have it written in content.
