Help 4g Tethering Painfully Slow on MetroPCS Motion

Ok just to clear this up
- You may NOT add tethering to any full unlimited plans ($55,$70)
- It is not included in any plans
- You may bypass the block on ANY plan on the device your trying to tether to by using a browser that runs data through their servers such as Opera or by changing the user agent string or by using a VPN

Please clarify further. If a user is on the unlimited $55 plan, and they use Opera to surf by tethering, will there be additional charges as suggested above ?

Does changing the user agent string void the warranty or cause other problems ?

I have the same basic problem as the op teethering is not behaving properly
Ty to the users who said all i have to is use opera hopefully ican respond from my laptop here shortly

Well I haven't been charged extra yet. I'm going on 4 months with over 100gb used. If I get charged ill pay, but until then I'm going to abuse the system as they do to us. :D

Been playing all my online games like Gears 3, all CoD's, while connected to all my other devices. While downloading torrents. Using hotspot from my LG Motion 4G LTE. Using explorer and opera. I'm not having any problems with any connections I'm on. Only one that's not working for me is Safari, so just use Sea Monkey or Opera. Non of my connections are slow, they're actually faster than what I expected.

I tether fine to laptops but iPads like my friends have issues staying on the connection.

If you change the user agent string on a device I don't really think they would check for that if you return something they check for cosmetic damage & just send it somewhere to get the OS reflashed

The whole point of doing this is so they don't know that your tethering so no additional charges

This issue is still up in the air. It has been said by some people on these forums that they were charged for using it and a couple of those people swear that they never used it at all. Most people say they have never been charged for using it. I tether my Wii and watch Netflix sometimes. Sometimes I just connect my Esteem to the TV and watch it that way. But I never used the mobile hotspot on the Motion, I use the WiFi tether from Google.

As far as the user agent string, it is just a software setting. For a while when I was browsing websites with Dolphin, it would tell me that tethering is not allowed because I had set Dolphin to use the user agent of a pc to access the non mobile version of a website. Dolphin is a mobile browser for Android. So seeing that message on my phone was really annoying.

It is likely to go over your normal usage using the tether. In a month, most people only use a gig or two, max. The limit is 60 they cut you off after that. If you go up to four or five gig, there will not likely be an issue, you go up to 55 and you will get a text message stating that you are in the top 5 percent and been to switch to wifi to avoid being throttled.

So, if you want to tether, it can be done. Just know that there could be consequences we don't know about yet. Also be responsible and reasonable with it.

Depends on area

Ok, so the issue i had did not go away with using opera, mine is not so much an issue of "speed" as it is not working with most sites. I can go to facebook for example and it works perfect, it's fast responsive and works exactly like being connected to wifi, however say i try to go to youtube it times out or takes ages to load up the page. It also works perfect with utorrent. The other night i was downloading at 968kB which is better than most wifi hotspots or dsl lines.

what causes this issue? i thought it might be a dns issue, but it is not, is it a port issue? or does metro just have my number and is rejecting my data request opera or no opera?
