Idk what is wrong with the 4G. It has always been a bit wonky, but this is ridiculous! It took.me 9 tries just to get to this page! The 4G goes from 4G to 1G (no 3G in our area per Metro PCS rep) to no G or from 4G to no G. I've been using Fresh Network Free from the Play Store, but I have to use it every few minutes or reboot several times just to have data connection. My LG Connect phone is less than 5 months old, and I bought it brand new. I still have plenty of memory and use the Dustpan Memory Cleaner every other day just in case. I live in Paris, Texas, so we should have a decent network via Metro PCS. I honestly don't know what else to do short of buying a new phone which I can't afford. And I know not to buy a refurbished phone from Metro cuz they royally suck. Went downthat path before. My phone is not rooted, and I have no way of rooting it either. Iam going nuts lol. Any suggestion, plz, will be GREATLY appreciated!! :)
 
I Have The Same Problem!!! I Just Keep It On 3G So It Doesn't Keep Switching. If I Turn The 4G On It Just Keeps Switching From 3G to 4G And It Kills The Battery. Also The Phone Gets Really Hot.
 
Don't waste your time using one of those signal boosting apps, it's faster to switch on/off airplane to re-establish a new connection. Make sure your phone prl is up to date.
 
We have no 3G service per Metro PCS here. I guess that's why it goes from 4G to 1G. That is what the sales rep said or I would :( Just 4G or 1G. I even called Metro to ask about resetting my phone. She did, but no change. I updated it yday. If I hadn't paid so much for it, I'd chunk it up against the wall. It's totally frustrating!! I guess I'll switch to Virgin Mobile if I have any extra money after income tax time. I only paid $130 for my daughter's phine, and sadly, it works better than my $285 phone.
 
Download Quick Settings from the Play Store and there and if you go to Mobile Data and then Network Mode, you can switch from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only, then you won't get the back and forth so much.

I do that at home where my 4G is kinda wonky, but here at work I let the 4G ride cause there is a repeater on the top of my building :P
 
There's an app called 4g toggle at the playstore that's quite simple to toggle 4g/EV (metro's 3g).

Your problem is quite common. I live in NY and it happens to me. Not all the time, but enough to frustrate the hell out of me. Sometimes it's their service, and sometimes it's the web page, hard to tell which, unless a popup comes up saying no connection. But it usually comes back sooner than later.

I use fresh network also. This also updates your prl automatically.

Being your in Texas (Metro's home) I'm surprised it's so bad. But It does happen all over, with the dropping of the signal (4g to 1x). Maybe just not with the frequency your experiencing.

It's not the phone, it's Metro's service.
 
I downloaded both. The cdma only just lets me go to 1G. On 4G Toggle, it just has the one screen and looks like Quick Settings. Plz, what do I do different?
 
In 4g Toggle go to network mode and select CDMA only and close the app. That should change your 4g to EV. If it's only 1x then your signal is pretty poor. After the switch try Fresh Network again and see if you get EV.

For me if the 4g cuts out like you experience, I find toggling down to EV gives me a steadier connection temporarily. But if you get 1x instead of EV, your signal is weak where you are. Try using your phone somewhere else to see if it's due to your location.

I lose connection or it lowers to EV even when I'm in an area I know the signal is usually good. It's Metro's 4g LTE service. Sometimes it sucks,.... It is just not consistent. I have had this phone since it first came out, and I have had to reboot, refresh, and toggle ever since. Just not as often as you. I'd say at least once a day on average.
 
Similar problem it drops 4g for about half a second and then reconnect.. I'm on the "unlimited" and download speeds are barely a megabit if I'm lucky.
