Root 4G?

Alright folks I need some advice - I use my Evo daily for Wifi tether and the 4G signal around here (San Antonio) is pretty good until I step into my classroom where I spend most of my days.

Question - What is the best way to maximize my 4G service, a specific ROM, adjust Wimax settings or something else?

A weak 4G signal is much better than a good 3G.. IMO.

Rooted, S-On currently running Harmonia (love it) but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Penetration of a radio signal will depend primarily upon your location and your firmware. If you perform the S-OFF procedure, you can flash different radios to see which one works the best for you. What is your current radio version?

If you load up the stock recovery then the Stock ROM you should be able to just install the OTA Firmware update. :]

The alternative to S-Off is to RUU the phone back to stock and take the OTA's. Then root again. If you mess with your phone a lot, go S-Off.

To be honest, I don't think there is much of a difference between the radio in the November 2012 OTA and the March 2013 one.

The march update is a hboot update and you will no longer run the ruu without flashing a zip and going soff.

WiMax uses the 2.5 Ghz frequency in the USA, the higher the frequency and the less building penetration so there might be little that can be done depending on your location and distance from the tower.

Dang...

I finally broke down and I am now S-Off, updated my radio and... well we will see.

Thanks again

Which version I am trying to flash it I don't know which one is the best.

When I went S-off and it included a update to the most current version 1.09.00.0108 so far it is working better for me.

I am going to experiment with a couple and see what works best for me.

Good luck,
