4th Droid and counting

I'm on like my 4th Droid (all refurbs) due to proximity sensor issues, headphone jack crackling and so forth. well, about a week ago, my current refurbs power button just suddenly stopped functioning properly. You have to press it extremely hard to turn the screen on and off.

If i call Verizon, they'll probably send me another refurb which is annoying!! The Verizon stores will do the same and are less friendly to deal with in my area(Washington DC). Is there Verizon can give me a Droid 2 instead so i can stop these hassles?

Thanks

Do what I did. I had HTC Eris and if you are under warranty, demand a warranty replacement to the D2 or you are cancelling and going to AT&T or Sprint.

This worked for me as well - sorta. My wife had an Eris and was having issues with her second replacement. I was fed up, called Verizon and told them I'd like a Droid (original) as a replacement. I was told they were unable to give it to me straight up, but if I would be willing to pay the $149.99 price for it they'd early-renew that line. To me (and, more specifically, to my wife) this was a decent compromise.

Just my opinion, but i think you got the shaft. This is what i exactly want to avoid. Yes, Verizon will offer for you to switch to another model (as they have before with me) but will you that you have to pay. This is unacceptable. Your paying them a monthly fee, you have a phone that you paid for that never worked, they keep sending you lemons and now they want to resolve the issue by having you pay for another model? Good customer service would say just to upgrade the customer for free.

By the way, i was in the store messing around with the Droid 2, and i'm not that impressed by it either. It's slightly faster than the Droid 1, but it's still laggy. :(
