50 Dumb Liberal Quotes

Is it just me or does it seem funny/odd that conservatives tend to point to liberals/progressives of the past as someone that greatly inspired them?

Does that mean the Americans are not Christians, as they did not go along peacefully with the system in the 1700's ?

Is that one of the 50 dumb liberal quotes? :D

Kidding aside, it is possible to admire and even revere Jesus and not be a Christian. You just have to steer clear of the "...only me ..." stuff he is quoted as uttering.

I'm not religious by any stretch of the imagination, but I tend to agree. There are a lot of religious men that can prove to be inspirational regardless of their religious affiliation.

I somehow doubt Jesus would have tolerated gov't stealing from some to provide for others. He preached kindness and charity, unless you now consider the gov't a charity.

Its not stealing, you get to vote and can emmigrate. Government creating a safety net funded with taxes = kindness and charity in my book. Also, the government seems to have far less overheads than your average charity. Charities should not have to provide a basic standard of living, they should be able to help people. I'll actually lol if you would give 40% of your income to charity instead of the government because you wont. Especially since others wont.

I hate liberals as much as anybody, but is this really the place for these discussions?

Well then you must have a moderate dislike for liberals.

So nationalized healthcare is the people attempting to stop the stealing and get some money back?? Same with buying up auto companies and backing home mortgages???? I'm not big into religion, but I somehow doubt that's what Jesus would have had in mind.

If I don't pay my taxes that support all these gov't "charities", what happens to me? The Romans with their spears show up at my door and arrest me. Is this what Jesus would approve of?

This is total nonsense, sorry.
I'm sure Jesus would love the NHS. Probably be less gone on mandated insurance, not sure he was one for individual choice :p
You get thrown in jail, thats what. Feel free to get your citizenship revoked. BTW, I always love the way all citizens have to pay federal income tax wherever they are. I wish Europe implemented that.

True, and the "king of the Jews" claim/excuse to hang him on lumber until he died along with other criminals seems strange to me and always has. A guy claiming to be a sectarian leader would be talking politics along with salvation through him and him alone (Joseph Stalin, Adolph Hitler, Rev Moon, Elija Mohammad, various other crackpots).

He only talked the salvation part, aside from advising citizens to pay taxes and go along with the system peacefully. He even railed against illegal gambling and "money changing." Maybe he perceived that taxes were for the public good? Roads, security, economic structure, etc?
That's very true! He was very much a peacemaker according to the bible, and tried to avoid creating trouble. The Roman tax collecting system was dodgy, but the money collected wasnt spent ridiculously, the Palestinians got peace, roads, waterways, free trade and religion

8. Max $100k salary or less. Living in Washington ain't cheap. Maybe even establish dorms on-site.

Politicians should be slaves to the people. They must also drop all other obligations. No conflict of interest with corporate ties. No second jobs or moonlighting. In return, they get to decide how things are run. Sounds fair.

And in turn, they'll set up a system that goes right back to getting themselves more money.

I get your point, and hypothetically your ideas would probably be much better for America than the current system. BUT taking money out of politics is literally the last thing that could ever be done in America.

Money is too persuasive. Power is too tempting. Politics is too underhanded.
