6.12.173 update is now official

on with Verizon now, apparently the update deleted certain files from the phone which are critical to the corporate sync, The only way to get those files back on the machine is to do a reset. Thank god i only bought the phone Sunday morning and really don't have anything on it. I will let you know if it worked

and now it works

What a PIA. I almost don't want the update now. I've had mine since late november and really don't look forward to having to resetup and install numerous apps if they don't work this out.

Wonder if the 174 fixes it. I read somewhere, dont remember where that it a critical fix for 173. Someone that uses the exchange should try it to see if that fixes the issue.

I installed the leak last week... My connectivity is way better than it was. Sucks to hear all you guys are getting borked... Updates.... We all want them until we get them lol

and this is why there's a soak period... to ensure the tens-of-thousands of people with the Razr don't all get screwed at once.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS UPDATE.

i have no 3g or 4g service at all now. this is a ****ing nightmare. nyc.

Turn off phone, pull Sim card, turn on, turn off, reinsert Sim card and power back on.

Respectfully, I doubt the issue is with the update but rather with the SIM card in your phone. :)

took my phone to Verizon they tried everything now I'm waiting for my replacement. After they completely wiped my device it wouldn't go past the touch the android screen. Kinda sucks but i guess 99% of people got the update without a hitch I'm just unlucky.

i got the update a little while ago but now i cant get the phone out of airplane mode. what should i do

Right. Moto wants to savor screwing each one of us individually!

Seriously, I'm loving this build. Camera seems better, more stable, no screen freezes. My only bitch is the My Music app seems to be really lagging on launch.

well, I factor-reset my phone twice and exchange email still is not working for me. Going into verizon tomorrow, and I'm really upset. Sounds like I'm not the only one having SERIOUS issues with this update too.

For anyone who hasn't installed it yet, I'd HIGHLY recommend waiting. At the very least, make sure all your data is backed up off the phone.

I still haven't gotten the update (and i don't use exchnage). Has everyone else who does not use exchange received the update ?

I got the update Monday about 6 PM.
Says it's version 6.12.173.XT912
No problems with it at all.
I don't use exchange.

Since it seems that this update may still be undergoing SOAK testing, did you receive notification from Motorola that you were part of the test?

I did via email. Now I feel so used, or should I say not used. :D Other bad part is I have not even gotten the update pushed to me. This is just like Xmas when you were a kid. You wait with giddy anticipation for Xmas morning to get down there and rip through your gifts, then hours later, the euphoria is gone. :D

I have been using Corporate Sync without any problems since I got my phone on release date. I didn't wait for the OTA I just installed the leaked 6.12.173 and am not having any issues with Corporate Sync. I even Fastbooted back to 744 the other day and went back through the update process with no problems.
I am not rooted and have not frozen/messed with any bloat. I rooted at one time to make an SQlite edit and then Unrooted right after. For those having problems after the update have you tried rolling back to 748 with this file:

Thanks to Mattlgrof.

No Wipe necessary.
Just put it on the root of your sd card. Boot your phone into Factory Recovery and choose Install from Zip and point to this Zip. Easy to roll back and no PC needed.

The changelog for this update states that now "Visual Voicemail will successfully subscribe or unsubscribe while connected to Wi-Fi."

Does this mean we can now get Verizon Visual Voicemail over wi-fi, or that simply you can log in and log out while connected to wi-fi?

I have the update, and I don't see any difference. It still will not let me access my (Verizon) Visual Voicemails while on wi-fi.

Just out of idle curiosity, I went into my phone settings, hit the Systems Update, and it set there checking for the update for what seemed like 3 minutes. I thought it was going to pop over to download the new OTA and then it gave me the old standard message that my device was up to date. Oh well back to the waiting game. :(

Same here...... I hate waiting!

So is the consensus kind of hit or miss as to whether you have issues OTA'ing this if rooted? It seems some do and some don't. I recently rooted and wondering what to do. I'd prefer to pass on this altogether really.
Further wondering if data connection is off(nite mode via SA) then it can't do the update while I'm snoozin'.

If you have wifi you could leave that on while leaving cell data off and it would still download. Download OTA root keeper from market. Select temp unroot and that way if it does install overnight you won't have issues. After the update installs just open up root keeper and select restore root and your back to rooted goodness. Some say you don't have to select temp unroot if you just do a root backup from root keeper but I have found that it doesn't always restore that way after updating. It does restore root every time if you select temp unroot before updating so that's what I recommend.
