Well.. yes and no. As far as I know from quick Google search Hot Spot only requires Wi-fi chip which is already equipped in all of current smart phones. And it is the software that enables Hot Spot mode.

So Esteem has built-in hotspot 'ability' but Metro PCS clearly states that it's against their policy. If you simply connect your netbook to Esteem tether, your will be directed to Metro's warning page.

In order to bypass this, you will have to modify your netbook web browser's user agent. You set the browser's user agent to Android Browser then Metro will think you are still using built in android browser even though you are actually using netbook's browser.

I tried this with IE, Chrom and Firefox. Firefox worked well for me and seems like others are having high success with FF.

Try to search 'How to change firefox user agent' And some of posts on Metro forum.

well super user ran into some hidden menus that involve mobile hotspot but metro ordered lg to disable it/hide it so basically the compatbility is there but the whole function has been crippled.

Thanks Big L for getting my hope's up...lmao...... then why would ldrifta add this to rom #2 in his last update if it does not work?.. well i'm sure soon enough someone from this forum will figure out how to enable it to work... it's a good tool to have and i have seen all other devices from metro's gauntlet of phone's that was not supposed to work with WiFi Hotspot but someone got it working anyways...

well whatever the case is i just finished playing with it and it seemed like it wanted to work off the wifi but just sat there waiting for google but nothing came up... but hey got this far with it got it connected on the wifi the phone can see the computer and the computer gets internet access any ideas?

Metro largely blocks most/all tethering, but you can get around this by changing your browser id...I can't remember exact terms right now, but it pretty much makes your computer browser look like an Android browser so metro let's it through

its called user agent code tag every browser has a tag that lets the site know if your on a mobile device so by metro detecting if your using regular internet explorer or googlr chrome or firefox they can block those tags to prevent you from tethering but ofcourse theres a way to by pass it easily.

My orginal tut but click the main link on bottom to see how its done for all other browsers
