64gb MicroSDHC

Hey guys, I just bought a LG F6 and a 64 GB micro sd card to go along with it. I plan on installing one of the storage fixes: Links2SD or App2ExternalSD. I recall seeing something about it needing to be formatted to fat32 to work.

Can anyone confirm this is true and that exFat will not work?

Any other limitations using fat32 over exFat besides the 4gb max file size?

And finally, what's the best way to flash this? I assume I am going to run into the 32gb max problem if I stick it in my PC and try to format it there.

Yes i think it need to be fat32 becaude thats what android recognizes as a external sd and this phone only supports 32GB cards partitioned or not ps i dont think exFAT will work and why would you want exfat

I believe that you will need to format the card in the phone. When you first install the sd card you should get a notification saying "damaged sd card" you will then need to go into storage in the system settings and format it and then it should work.

I have a 64 GB Class 10 sdcard (54 GB FAT 32 + 4 GB ext4). I formated it using MiniTools in my PC and my F6 recognized it without any issue:

Can you plug it into a pc and transfer files. I read that windows doesn't support fat32 partitions more than 32gb

this thread is a bit old but also the 64GB card I have is SDXC (extended) and I had problems formating it because it can be converted over to fat32 but not ext2,3, or 4. I could make it fat32, but I couldn't make an ext4 partition on it...

(I had never really noticed the differences between sd, sdhc and sdxc until I started messing around with partitions to swap ext. to internal)

just for info purposes:

I got my 64 gig class 10 micro sd when the first came out. I can't remember what android phone I had, I just put the new sd card in and used the phone itself to reformat the card and it was then it could see all 64 gigs. I just got the f6 today and threw my card in it and it recognized the full capacity just fine as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I was referring to if you partition out the card, SDXC wont allow a fat32, ext4 and or/swap partition. SDXC works with exfat and fat32. As far as I could gather anyway. Some of the 64GB cards are SDXC.

Honestly, personally, it has been a long minute since I have messed with the phones storage... Depending, on which program you use to by pass the storage limitations of the phone you are using will be the deciding factor in how you format your card, and what programs you use. I forgot much now, but the post started by Jvene should have more info than I now remember...
