6P worth the non-contact price? Wife says Heck No!

I'm on Verizon, bought the daughter a new HTC One M9 on contract. Yeah, it is expensive, but my SS check can handle the monthly $30 charge which includes lost/stolen insurance.

Out of pocket, I could not find a decent phone that I trusted to be "as represented"... I do not trust Swappa either.
With VZW, what they say they will do, they back up all the way. 25 years with them, know my way around their CS folks.

I'm shocked that no one has plainly laid out the obvious truth here: the 6p is one of the least expensive flagship devices out there!

$500 versus $650 for an iPhone 6s or $750 for a 6s+. Plain and simple, Verizon or anyone else isn't doing you any favors by financing. Even factoring in the time value of money on Verizon's 0% financing considered, you're still not going to make up the difference.

The easiest pitch to family members is this: you're paying $20 extra every month for a phone that you paid $200 for up front. Even if you have a non-premium phone you got for "free", you still paid at least $480 ($20x24 months) for it over the course of the contract. This phone is essentially $20 (that's 500 minus 480) on the old pricing scheme, and there's no risk of Verizon charging you that extra $20 in perpetuity! No brainier!

If you're on the new more honest plans, you're paying full price of the phone over 24 months. It's as simple as that. In the latter case, if you buy the $500 6p, you're still paying $50 less than a LG G4 or an old GS5, and the 6p will certainly outlast those two. If you really need financing for a $500 purchase, I'd suggest you not even have a smart phone for a while until you save up for one. Screwing yourself over 24 months is only going to make your problems worse. Keeping your loved ones in ignorant bliss will eventually catch up with you also.

This is an old thread, but I didn't see anyone mention the reason I justified the 6P: Verizon will cut your bill by $25 per month for each line with an unused upgrade. But you have to call them for them to do it (only once, not every month).

That is definitely a nice option for many. An extra note on that though, for those of us on older plans such as Nationwide, etc that credit is not available.
