7" Tablet Leader?

Is there a clear leader or two in the 7" tablet market? I have an iPad 2 but its not always convenient to carry along. Considering the Kindle Fire (wife has one), but wanted to see if any of the straight up Android 7's are good.

Thanks much.

I love the Kindle Fire, but the best one is probably the new Samsung 7.7 Galaxy tab, which is ultra thin, Verizon 3G enabled, and has a superb screen.

I know Asus is coming out with one soon with nice specs and also Archos has a one with a a9 IMO these will blow the kindle and nook out of the water

I'm waiting to see how the Asus performs. If it's half as good as it sounds, that's the one for me.

The Asus 7 inch tablet will be price at $249, Samsung and other manufacturer better take note.

The question is, what are the specs? I do know that the tablet you are quoting won't be having specs to compare to the Transformer Prime, but how about this one?
Samsung P6200 Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus - Full phone specifications
Most defining feature is the 7 inch SuperAMOLED display. Easily the best display on ANY tablet out there, even including the iPad.
It can also do SMS/MMS.

Whens this supposed to be on the market? I think its interesting that Amazon did something that revolutionized what was once an apple only ecosystem. In fact, its great and visionary.
