Help .893?

Solid data connection for the last 4 hours, even if it doesn't become the final release, it fixed my data issues.

Is this something that should eventually come OTA for non-rooted users?

no way to know yet. All releases have to be blessed by Verizon, ultimately. I can't tell you how many "releases" never saw the light of day for the Storm series.

The REAL update will be sometime in November. It is referred to in this forum as the OTA (Over The Air). It may not work on Rooted Bionics. It may not work on Bionics that have .893 installed. The answers will be known when it is released.

When OTA is released you will find it by ...
Hit Menu button on Home screen
Select Settings
Select About phone
Select System updates

.893 is for people who can't wait. .893 is not supported by the vendor(s).

You get to decide what is best for you.

And 5.6.893 (at least on my phone) has been a major improvement in all sorts of connectivity - 3G, WiFi and the hand off between the two.

My phone says E:signature verification failed and then crashes and says update aborted...

Not sure what I am doing wrong...

You have the 5.5.893 already installed?

And are you doing this in stock recovery, instead of CW Recovery?

the 5.5.893 is the one I cannot get installed, I cannot even get to the second one...

And yes I am using the stock recovery...

I am going to try to update to 5.5.892 and then to 5.5.893...

Are you on .886? Did you download the correct .886 --> .593 file?

Yes, .886 to .893.

I am going to try .886 to .892 then .892 to .893 then the mr1 LTE upgrade...

And .892 ALSO fails e-verification...

FJOSFIEUE(P#U*(H@*(

This is rather annoying...

Maybe I just have to wait for the stupid OTA update.

....

So, I had the .892 update sitting on the SD card, upon rebooting it actually said there was an update on the SD card, it copied the files to RAM and is now installing it...

I guess we will see how well this works...

Sooo, it turns out it is a good idea to turn off your device and SD card encryption prior to trying to install a ZIP file...

Soooooooo yeah, I am a dumbass...
