9.9.2 vs 2.3.3

Someone remind me why I should stay on 9.9.2. I forget why I went back and it's been forever since I've been on this rom.

Peanut gallery... would I be facing any issues with 2.3.3? I have a few programs that are incredibly laggy and I'm not sure if 2.3.3 would help. I gave up on Angry Birds... (unless anyone has a method for making it run normal)

Thank you :)

Yes... I went through threads and didn't find anything that caught my eye to as why I went back to 9.9.2

Easiest way is to Nandroid and then flash the Rom, I myself have no issues with GB 2.3 but keep in mind we all use our phones different and thus the reason why there are so many variances so that would be the best way to test it and there will be no harm no foul as you can always Nadroid back. As for Angry Birds, I do not use it but if you disable Internet while playing I read it was much better, remember it is still a Heroc and it has it's limitations. ;)

some hero.... I want hercules dang it. Thank you... I'm going through the process now of prepping for the update. I need some spice.

I hear you, keep us posted

I don't know if I FUBARed something, but there are a lot of force closes and I had to reinstall everything. (Including the Google apps which was odd because I installed that as a 2nd package)

In the past my apps have automatically installed themselves. I'm semi tempted to re-install the ROM (no wipe)

<shrug>

Other than that, no difference between this and 9.9.3 Hell, I can't even get a background to load.

wonder how I screwed it up lol

Did you do a FULL wipe? I believe when upgrading to 2.3 you have to do a full wipe... wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache, then go into the partitions menu and click on format data, system, boot, and cache. DO NOT FORMAT THE SD CARD. Then reinstall the ROM and Gapps. Hope this helps.

I only have access to do:
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache partition
- Wipe Davlik (which never works, always spawns an error)

I really want to update my clockworks mod but I've yet to find a way to get it to work. Rom Manager always errors out, I've tried adding the image to the tandtgaming folder (not sure the exact name atm) but that doesn't work.

If I do indeed get an answer on how to do this, what's the easiest way to save all my programs and settings if I do another full wipe... titanium backup? (Yeah, backups and restores are my weak point... still don't understand the restores 100%)

Hey DonB... You posted a link to this thread so I'm asking you directly.... [RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL]Clockworkmod 3 series - xda-developers

For the life of me I cannot get the new 3.0 Recovery.
I've tried the rename tactic, I've tried the ADB tactic (I get an error regarding the flash image)

How do I do it through the Rom Manager itself? I only have an option for 2.5.0.7

Don't make me go all Carrie Fisher..."Help Me Obi Wan... you're my only hope"

I think I've tried everything lol.

It cannot be done through RM, it has to be done through TE or ABD, I would post in that forum I posted as I am not using that recovery as of yet, so my knowledge on it is very limited.

You also have the format options in Mounts and Storage, do not format SD card

Ahh... ok, for some reason I thought you were the guru on that topic lol

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to fixing things lol I've always had issues with the recovery/flash image. not sure why.

Incase your wondering what he means by renaming it, you can rename it so the Rom manager can flash the recovery for you

Hey -I can help with CW3.024
Rename works....if you do it right

Yep... that's the only way I could get it to work. Now It's time to do the liquidsense deal so i can update my old PRL.

Did you check to see if the new recovery is backward compatible, meaning you can restore an older Nandroid from the 2 series, I am sure many would like to know. I would guess they are not otherwise RM would have integrated the new recovery

Don -
I am able to go back to my old Original Stock Rom Nan on 3.0.2.4
Also saved one of aosp final Froyo build -

Kool, wonder why RM would not integrate the new recovery then, how do you like the new recovery, any issues

So here's the deal

I didn't have a LiquidSense.
I was able to backup just fine (Rom Manager wouldn't let me , but the recovery would)

Then I went to install LiquidSense... no deal. 3.0 CWM will NOT allow you to install it due to Amend (I believe that's what it was)

So... I had to put CWM 2.5.7 back on, then install LiquidSense, then do a PRL update, then make my LS Nandroid, then restore my old Nandroid.

All is well in the world.

I didn't put CWM 3 back on. Not enough time.

Now to figure out which .... omg I'm having a brain fart... um... processor? CPU thingy... overclocker... it's bigger than a breadbox... wtf I must be totally overworked... all I can think about are SQL commands.
I'll figure it out eventually... but I know I want a faster one

Kid - Not sure why it didn't work for you.

had no issues going back and forth Between 2.0 recoveries and 3.0
amend - edify should have nothing to do with flashing a ROM....only changing scripts.

If you are going into Cm& or aosp2.3.3 - you don't need an overclocker -
Its cooked into the ROM.

Don - Just feels better...and I like Orange. JUST DON"T FORMAT RECOVERY.....Big Pain in the ass issues...

K, I wouldn't do that anyways, thanks I will look into it, mine is working just fine, you know the saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it, lol
