Help -90 to -98 dBm

Hey guys,

Just got the Incredible 2 and love it over the Thunderbolt battery life wise so far. But I have noticed that inside my house, I am getting between -90 to -100 dBm signal strength and I get zero to 1 bar with an occasional 2 bars. Anyone else have this problem? I saw this on Verizons Forum and there were plenty but no one really had an answer for it.

P.S. Should I drain the battery and charge it back up a couple times since it is new? Or should it be fine with a Li-Ion battery?

Signal strength is definitely lower on the Dinc2.

As for the battery, no special use/charging necessary. Just don't drain it way down too often. Li-ion batteries are happiest between 20-80% charged.
 
I had the same issue and verizon sent me a network extender for free. Give them a call see if they will do it for you. With the extender I always have 5 bars in my house.

Yeah but that doesn't fair well when you're away from it =/. I'm going out with my brother to teach him how to drive now. :eek: I'll see how the signal is outside my house and report back. I tried updating roaming but that didn't help.
 
Around my whole neighborhood I was only getting about 1-2 bars max at around -90 to -100 dBm. But when I got to the place where I was driving with my brother, it was 4 full bars with -60 to -70. I guess it's because there are no towers near where I live that is causing this problem but still, I think HTC should've had a stronger radio or something so that people who are equidistantly far from 2 towers can still get good signal :/
 
Switched from OG Droid to Dinc2 and noticed a drop of 3-5 dbm in signal strength but so far no dropped calls. I think part of it is that the bars are not accurately displaying. I downloaded Signal Notification application which shows a seven bar scale. At home the Dinc2 is averaging 100 dbm with no bars. The Signal Notification app also shows 100 dbm but 2 bars.

Try *22899 - it takes you to the same process but no user intervention is needed, just dial and wait for the reset that follows the end of the call.

Aside from that, I've found the antennas (for BT as well as WiFi and cells) seem to be a little more sensitive to phone orientation; the phone does care which way it's oriented. If I had to pick one real gripe about the DINC2, it'd be this one: the antennas just don't seem to be in the right place or the radios' receivers just aren't as hot as I want.

But, hey, we could all have the iPhone antenna problem, which is much worse! :D
 
With the antenna located in the battery door, I am hoping someone will make an aftermarket door with a better antenna.

haha wait did i miss something :confused:.

On topic: I just went out to check my phone and I have 0 signal with an X on the bars at work. With my old Env3 I had about 1 bar and could sometimes make calls and if not, all the time I could get and send texts. Kinda bummed a newer phone isn't the same strength if not stronger but hey I love the phone otherwise.
