Help a 0.2GHz fraud?

Hello I have a phone with Dual Core MediaTek 6572 CPU. That CPU is supposed to be 1.2GHz, while CPU-Z shows me its only at 1GHz. I've installed any app that show me CPU stats and its says that its 1GHz. What should I do? Leave it like this, are those apps lying to me or can I root my phone and overclock it?

Chinese website was it? They might have wrong information, it's not unknown.

According to MediaTek themselves it does. However the manufacturer of the phone may have under-clocked it.

Nope, it'll eat more of your battery and probably get warmer but if mediatek say it can handle that frequency then it should be cool

Try Towelroot, that's been known to root loads of handsets.

when i click on makin it rain it freezes on the button and doesnt do anything.
z4root crashes.
kingo root doesnt do anything. i rooted 2 devices with that app.
framaroot's exploits are bad
vroot fails
more programs pls

how am i gonna do that? i have kernel 3.4.67

edit: cant i do that with no frills cpu control? seemed to work well on other devices. didnt show any errors

MediaTek devices never really have much of a dev community, so root/customisation options are often limited.
