Hello there. I bought my desire recently and found a rooting guide using unrevoked. i managed to root it and install a custom rom. now that I have tried to install another one it wouldnt work it would just boot into the same rom again. whats the right method to root? i am bit confused about app2sd asd+. what are the steps i need to do. I also would like to format my sd card and partition it properly.

AuraxTSense this i had and trying to install

Official 2.2 |with: busybox, old A2SD+, OpenVPN (TUN), EXT4 support, 802.11N| FROYO - HTC SENSE

it wouldnt work. then i tried to unroot with RUU for three network wouldnt work either. it said bootloader isnt valid. i dont know what to do

yes i wiped data and cache also

How did you install the second one? Through clockworkmod recovery? It must have given an error?

You will have had to wipe before installing the second one.

What is your ultimate goal here?

i went into recovery mode using power button and volume down. i did back, factory reset wipe and then install new zip from sd card. chose the zip it said installed then i did reboot but it just went to the previous rom.

i then tried using rom manager i got the same problem

How can you be sure its the same rom? Are you sure you're not flashing the same rom? Maybe try another one.

Because I took out the old Rom and left the new one. I can tell the old one had a proper name.zip and the new one just number.zip. thing is when I click install it seems to take few seconds.only shouldn't it take.longer?

Yes, it should take about a minute. There will be a message on screen telling you what has happened.

It may be the rom zip you downloaded is corrupt. Maybe redownload or just try a new rom.

yes it worked now. i managed to install a new version. great:) now i have another question. now how could i format and partition my sd card?

no, you have to partition the card before installing the rom if you are using the rom I linked to.

ah ok yes saw it...where is that section (asd ). sory i am bit new to this

A2SD+ (1.4)

This requires the second ROM (v2.0) with init.d. Take a nandroid backup before enabling this. Activate the feature by adding an ext2/ext3 partition to your sdcard (ext4 is not currently supported). It must be formatted and ready to use before adding this. If you have apps on an existing partition it may cause problems if you don't perform a full wipe, but a full wipe is very strongly recommended if you want to use this. This version is safe to use with USB disk mode. Please read this post for important information and the download link.

no i havent installed your rom yet. i just formatted the sd card using settings then went into recovery mode to install a2sd+. because u said i need to partition the card first before i install the rom. i thought a2sd+ will help me partition
