when i take my phone out of my pocket and unlock it the screen will be in landscape mode and it usually will take a good 5 to 10 seconds for it to go back to normal.. i usually have to shake the phone for it to even respond..

has anyone had this problem??? know of any quick fixes for it??

If you have the phone on standby long enough, the CPU will automatically be underclocked to save battery life. When you turn the screen back on, it can take a little while to get back up to speed.

If you have Launcher Pro (or Plus) installed, you can go to Menu > Preferences > Behavior Settings > Enable Auto-rotation to turn off landscape mode for your homescreens.

nice!!! thanks.. i hope it works out..
it was mostly annoying when i would get a text and the screen would be sideways and i couldnt do anything because it was moving so slow..

My homescreens never go into landscape mode. Should they be able to? Apps do, but not the homescreens. Using stock launcher. Auto-rotate screen is selected/checked in settings->display.

No. Homescreens will not auto rotate. By design.
