A Charging Mystery

I hope someone can help me to solve this.

I have a 7" android tablet with a short Micro OTG cable plugged in which ends in a full size female USB socket. All works well through this socket, keyboard, mouse, memory sticks etc. The thing driving me mad is that I cannot charge the tablet on this female socket. I've tried all manner of OTG cables and USB cables and nothing works for charging the tablet. I can only charge directly to the tablet's micro socket.

My aim in this is to prevent constantly having to plug/unplug from the tablet itself.

I have an Adspec Adtab 7 with Jellybean 4.2, Dual Core Cortex 1.5ghz

Any advice gratefully received

Thanks for that friend. It's what I suspected. But surely there must be somewhere a micro OTG lead where the pins ARE connected.

PS. I'm handy with the soldering iron - I think!

USB-OTG cables normally have a Micro-A plug, which when inserted tells the device to assume the role of host. As the host is responsible for powering the USB interface I don't think charging is possible.

A Micro-A to Micro-B adaptor might work, if such a thing exists, but I wouldn't like to speculate on the reliability (or electrical safety) of such a bodge. It's always best to use the correct tools for the job.

I've just stanley-knifed each end of an old OTG micro cable.
All four wires on the micro end AND the female USB end are connected.
Colours red, white, yellow, black.

On a USB cable they are red, white, green, black.

But the red and black are always at each end and I assume these have the charging current. So all four wires are being connected. But it remains a mystery why it won't charge.

Thank you most kindly. I always bow down to superior knowledge!
I now resign myself to the carefully explained situation and will just use the charger as instructed.
